So I want to get a Dell XPS 1330, the 1399 dollars model from the Dell Website, according to said website, if I buy it before Jan 31 I save like 600+ dollars, but it doesn't specify how. I know that sometimes US stores tells you that you SAVE X amount of money, but you really pay fullprice and receive rebates in the mail.
Because we don't really have use for rebates, I wouldn't like to tell my dad that the machine costs 1399 and then see a charge for 2000+ dollars in his bank account.
Question: Is the Instant Savings, really Instant Savings?
*After further reading, I saw that I have to use an E-code or something, I think I have the instructions pinned down, it is a real saving, right?

Instant savings usually mean what it is... no extra work involved... just another form of marketing "discounts".
Make sure to pay attention which rebates require mailing in crap... cause those are the ones you need to deal with immediately.
Rebates involving a special code need to be applied immediately or the transaction will not be what you are expecting.

keep in mind that if you need a UPC code in order to honor the rebate and something goes wrong, you may not be able to return it
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Yeah, you're right to be cautious. I myself been had in the past over some "mail-in" rebate (I know that's not what we're talking about here) Honestly, when I see them, I just count the real price and just assume I'll never receive them. Easier.
Lol One time I saw a local program showing a woman who never got her mail in rebate. Well she fought legally for months and spend thousand in lawyers and such over... a 50$ coupon or something. Hey, it's the principle I guess.
