Post by Mark57Raider »

OK guys I made a zmv of me playing donkey kong country 2 without absolutely no saves whatsoever. And I hope you have as much fun watching it as I did playing. Thanks guys.

The game time I finished it at is 1:11. I know I'm probably not the best in the world at this game as far as quickness goes, but I think I did ok. I paused one time in the game. but not for very long.

Hey Mark
I haven't viewed your video yet, ('caue i'm at school and can't :( )
But i remember, me and my bros. tried to do DKC2 speed run.
I think we only got to about world two. We had mastered all those levels though :D .

Did you use the cheat barrel thingys?

Cheat Barrels? Oh you mean the warp barrels. Yes i did use warp barrels a few times just for the speed. Well anyways I posted super ultra run on donkey kong country 3!! I only had 3 deaths in the game. One due to my isp asking me if I wanted to stay online in Tearaway Tobbogan and the other two were cheap bug deaths in Lookout Lightning. Here's the link guys

Okay this speed run is for Donkey Kong Country 1. I died 2 or 3 times and completed in a game time of 58 minutes.

So I guess this completes the donkey kong country series as a whole. hope you liked the vid.

Copy the file to your rom directory, and rename it exactly as your copy of DKK (1, 2 or 3) but with it's normal extension. Open ZSNES and look for movie playback options, and there you should find everything. If the file's extension is zmt, it should be file 0.

If there are various files, it's easier to rename the rom.

Thanks everyone.

Got it working :D .

I'm very impressed Mark.
i recon i could do it better though

EDIT: i will edit, to avoid double posting
Just kidding Mark, i couldn't do it any better than you.

Though.... i could at one point, name every level and every boss in DKC2, including the bonus levels.

Also; i would just say "K. Rool" or "Kugel".... i would say "K. Rool Duel" or "Kugel's Contest"...... anyway, you get the picture

If you can do it better, I say go for it. Make a movie of it and show off your skills :) I'd certainly watch it. as I'm a huge fan.

Man I'm tired of this. I was fixing to play with someone on zbattle.net and he says zsnes 1.51 is a bullshit build and that it allows for cheating using rewind and crap. I mean come on I didn't even use rewind. Can you even cheat making movies? I'm gonna try to see what he means. He is not a believer of me and said no one will take your movie seriously because you cannot prove you didn't cheat.

The "video" is just a file containing a recording of the keypresses (unless you included SRAM or a savestate). He can verify that it's not cheated by replaying the video.

Encoded videos don't have that feature.

You can cheat, and you can cheat at cheating.

In the former, you use the rerecording features to make a tool-assisted run.
In this case, a lot of useless quirky info is stored in the movie file, which reports several of the tools you used to assist you in the making of that movie.
You still get credit for the awesome amount of effort you put in creating a honed TAS, regardless the amount of tools.

In the latter, you edit the file to alter this info after producing a movie to try and impress people that you pulled it without using tools.
This is retarded and useless - pure speedrunners who care about movies made with human reflexes only won't accept a run made in an emulator EVER.

I'm (still) working on a little something that would defeat most of the stupid altering without any effort like encrypting the info or anything like that.
It's a years old project now, but I'll get around to it... someday.

It's cool take your time. I can wait till version 1.52 comes out. And also I bet it's hard work making a great super nintendo emulator. You all should get paid for that, but you don't. Anyways I made a screeches sprint speed run playable on a different donkey kong country 2 rom.
