Unless you like pixelation for some reason, you should either use NTSC or Scale2x/Supereagle filter.
Also, you shouldn't be using Virtual Console altogether. It expects you to pay around 10 dollars for games well over 15 years old. And when the next Nintendo console comes out, they'll expect you to pay again. Never use commercial emulators who authors refuse to share the source code and whatnot, either.
You should read byuu's emu ethics article:
http://byuu.cinnamonpirate.com/articles/emuethics/
If the author doesn't respect you, you should respect him either. By extension, that means not using his works, and encouraging others to do the same.

wow, you're a total fucking moron. not everybody has their computer hooked up to their tv running emulators all day (some of us have better things to do with our time). for some people, it's worth the money to have a virtual console game on their wii that they can play, so they don't have to lug around a computer. and who are you to tell others what they should and shouldn't do? you really need to go fuck yourself.Franky wrote:Also, you shouldn't be using Virtual Console altogether. I wasn't talking about any kind of Tv-Out adapter. And when I say "shouldn't", I mean "it's my opinion that VC is unethical, and thus it's bad that people use it". My opinion, really. You don't have to agree.
I'm sorry if I phrased that badly and lead you to such conclusion.
And by the way, emulation is not limited to PC's. I wasn't even referring to PC's. but in that context, I could have meant "laptop", in which case your argument is thrown out the window, somewhat.
Ever heard of the GP2X?
And the PSP has many wonderful emulators for it. The PSP is lighter, and designed for portability (less "lugging around", yes).
Hell, you can run NES games on a mobile phone.
And I shit you not when I say that there are gameboy emulators that can be run on certain digital cameras.
PS:
Little tip, if your going to argue back, don't call the person you're fighting a "moron", generally insult him/her, or use profanity, because if you do, not many people will take you seriously. And by the way, I am part of that majority.

If the shoe fits... Seriously, as much as phonymike can come off as brash, you stand on a soapbox too much. Stop prostelyzing. You made an ass out of yourself in that feature request thread on bsnes, and you're doing it again here.Franky wrote:PS:

hey chill out guys
i just want that a person (who already played the wii virtual console/know how the video works) tell me what zsnes video settings would be most close to what is displayed in the hdtv with vc.
in other words: i want my monitor to display the exact image displayed by wii vc (dont know if its somewhat enhanced or smooth or pixallated, so i dont know if i use a filter or not)

IF YOU DON'T KNOW, then why does it matter?fbb wrote:hey chill out guys![]()

The only reason I can think of for your insistence on this matter is you want to falsify some sort of screen shot, i.e. cheat.
does that mean that:blackmyst wrote:I like the VC because it outputs a nice genuine low res signal for low res games, which just looks great on a small CRT TV.
- Hi-Res (+ filters) {on Big sized screen) > Low-Res {on small screen}
as i type this, suddenly i remember and missed the old screen maginifer glasses (the thing was rectangle plano-convex glasses with diameter about 32"), that i ussualy put in front of my small screened TV in early 80's

God forbid some company wants to make money on intellectual property that they invested heavily in, even though it was some years ago. And God forbid that people do not want to commit copyright infringement.Franky wrote:Unless you like pixelation for some reason, you should either use NTSC or Scale2x/Supereagle filter.

And God forbid that those of us who already have and paid for these games would want to enjoy them again without paying again. God forbid that copyrights and patents expired after a couple of decades, as they were always meant to.badinsults wrote: God forbid some company wants to make money on intellectual property that they invested heavily in, even though it was some years ago. Edit: Poor quote edit corrected.

oh, you mean those things that company can renew?
they still own the rights. if they haven't released into the public domain, you're expected to pay again.
unless you post here, in which case you probably haven't payed again.
but why is this being discussed in this thread of all places?
and what's with those quote tags?

Yes, exactly. Those things which are meant to expire after the original authors have had a generation or so to reap the profits from, and then allow enrichment of the society by passing the IP into the public domain. Abuse of renewal threatens their very purpose.sweener2001 wrote:oh, you mean those things that company can renew?

What's wrong with having this discussion here, in this thread? I realize the original post was about duplicating the Wii's look under ZSNES, but the topic quickly moved on to a more political tone. I don't mind Nintendo squeezing more money out of these old properties. It just won't come from me. I've paid them plenty for the 8- and 16-bit games already, and very recently I paid them plenty for the Wii and the handful of good games in its library. I will not be paying them twice for anything. You are right about that.
I've now fixed my earlier post. Thank you for pointing it out.
That makes it sounds as if it is even sometimes true. When talking about older systems, it isn't. Ever.Rashidi wrote: does that mean that:is not necesserly the truth?

I recon the best way to play snes games on tv.... is with a snes
Sorry about that...... couldn't resist!
Now seriously, snes emulation on GC is going to be my next project. i would use VC, but i can't afford the wii lan adapter of the cost of all those great snes games out there.
Although the Viper Extreme isn't exactly cheap either!

Hardware means nothing if you don't have good software.
Compare the success of SNES over Genisis

I doubt they'd be on VC if public domain anyway... wasted effort.sweener2001 wrote:oh, you mean those things that company can renew?

excuse me, but the virtual console on the wii is meant as a feature. it is not a direct replacement for the nes. if you bought the game and an nes console years ago, then quit bitching about not being able to play for free. the nes game system came with a warranty. if it has since expired, then maybe you should have thought about that when you bought it. as for the games, which you payed for, go pull those out and play them. if you don't have them anymore, then that's your fault. these games didn't have "lifetime upgrades" attached to them. when your car gets old and broken they don't give you a new car for free. frankly you're lucky they even offer the service, and if you don't like it then don't buy the product.
