very first result when googling 'itunes without quicktime' and contains steps for if you already installed QA.

Not anymore. I think Apple requested them to not do that anymore so they're sticking to standard QuickTime.Gil_Hamilton wrote:QuickTime Alternative is just QuickTime with a pro version code and MPC instead of QuickTime Player(or whatever they call it).l3v3l wrote:1. Install iTunes.
2. Uninstall QuickTime.
3. Install QT Alt.
or use a Mac

Fact is he has to have the QuickTime components installed if he wants to use iTunes!
And he stated he does not want to use QuickTime (=Player) and uses QTA (like I do, too).
So what is the point in your post?
Too complicated conercing how often iTunes / QuickTime gets updatet.franpa wrote:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/07/1 ... quicktime/

That QTA = QuickTime. It's not hard to change some file associations to kill the player. Even easier to do it during the install, so it never steals them in the first place.l3v3l wrote:Yes? It's the QuickTime components only... not QuickTime (which means + Player).Gil_Hamilton wrote:That QTA = QuickTime. It's not hard to change some file associations to kill the player. Sure... you could disable file associations during the installation. But you would not get the QTPlayer / running background processes removed (and btw, Media Player Classic is great).

Agreed. I've purchased some music through Amazon. Good quality, no DRM, no bloated installs. There is a tiny app though necessary for album downloads, but its 1.3MB instead of 57MB for itunes!sweener2001 wrote:purchasing through amazon is much better, as they're 256 kbps mp3's. The picture before had the word "significantly" spelled wrong. It's been changed now.odditude wrote:Where's the spelling error? If you're looking at "inane," that is the intended word.
