Touhou 11
Episode 11 (chireiden), trial version, is out. It is most exquisite, despite being the first one that can't be run on Winders 98se. I really have to buy a new compy now. >_<;
The new scoring system is a very improved version of the previous one, since grazing actually helps you again. Basically it's a cross between 'always have something to shoot at' and 'always graze stuff', with some extra quirks depending your character combo choice - which are damn nice, although the classic "homing reimu" combo utterly blows this time around... kinda tough on novices.
Fuujinroku's power-equals-bombs system was kept, but 'bombs' are unique to each character combo, and aren't always plain bombs. See Marisa+Nitori among others (optical camouflage roofle)... but still no master spark. ;_;
Really, wtf ?
Oh, and highscoring will be EXTREMELY hard this time around. It's tied to having to graze shit AND timing kills properly so that your friction gauge never drops, which is insanely tough. At least that's all you have to care about - no more going to the POC to get points if you can keep the friction up.
Gotta wait and see what asapin can pull with that one.
Music fits nicely to the underground theme and is very enjoyable (if you like the ZUN style, that is).
So far I haven't encountered any old characters (except those you can choose to play with, I mean), but who knows what the remaining stages will uncover... after all, Reimu already went to hell a couple times, maybe she'll find an old acquaintance later.
Spellcards are decently original, located a fair bit on the "haha you're fucking bowned now" side of the danmaku spectrum.
The game is quite unforgiving, and I'm not even trying to imagine stage 4 and its typical difficulty boost...

Aug. Stages 4 and up are a nice redefinition of painful.
