want a ps3 for blu-ray, and whatever game eventually comes out that is ps3 exclusive that i'll need to play.
it was FFXIII, but that's taken care of. i figure i'll give mgs4 a try. i wonder how many discs they'll need. lost odyssey used up four, and it's a good sized game.

The Pippin is remarkably similar in concept to the XBox.Rashidi wrote: i guess that where MS got its idea about xbox
I can't honestly believe MS decided to rip off a platform that failed so bad that most people never knew it existed. I'm assuming parallel evolution.
Because let's face it, sticking a standard PC in a box with a custom OS is the easy way to enter the market. Okay, so Apple used a standard Mac instead of an IBM clone, but...

I don't have an HDTV, so high-dev video is really a moot point. The PS3 is noticeably more expensive than the 360, as well, which makes it that much more inaccessible for me. The extra $100 I'd pay for PS3, I could get 3-4 used 360 games.
So I bought a 360 last Monday. Then, less than twelve hours later, Square announces that 13 is hitting 360. I'm like, "Oh yes."

I think back in the day, Apple/Bandai released a console called the Pippin; it was released in 1996 http://www.pcworld.com/article/125772-6 ... tml#pippin If they failed then, they'll likely fail again. And I thought the 3DO sucked.Neo Kaiser wrote:I hope that Apple would release a console some day.

My brother bought me 46" Bravia with the table as a birthday gift. Then I wanted to watch some Blu-Ray movies so I grabbed 1 of the last 3 MGS4 bundles on Walmart. The mayority of the people don't have HDTVs and they don't care about Blu-Ray so they don't buy a PS3 or a lonely Blu-Ray player. Maybe that's why many people had a 360 other than for M$ exclusives. Once I watched a HD movie I don't want to buy DVD movies. Not that It mater since I only buy 1 or 2 movies a year.
I don't care about the game going multi but some people who lack common sense are whining because it went multi and they got even as far as to not buy the game because it went multi because they will water down the game. C'mon what the hell they are thinking?

Thanks for reading! Nobody'd mentioned the Pippin yet, and if it wasn't for you, that potshot would've gone entirely unshot!neo_bahamut1985 wrote:I think back in the day, Apple/Bandai released a console called the Pippin; it was released in 1996 http://www.pcworld.com/article/125772-6 ... tml#pippin If they failed then, they'll likely fail again. And PCWorld is retarded. They've got no clue what they're talking about, and are forced to rely on their standard "Mac sucks. Game consoles suck. It's a Mac game console, so it's clearly suck^2. And it bombed, so it's suck^3."
"Then, too, it was based on the Mac OS, so almost no games were available for it."
Because the XBox's Windows-based OS meant that it ran existing Windows games, right? And it WASN'T dependent on developers supporting it with new titles?
The biggest problem was that Apple shot for a high-end game market that never materialized.
There's a whole slew of high-spec game machines/low-end PC systems, like the 3D0s, the Amiga CD32(which is expandable out to a full Amiga PC), and even the Saturn.
(Remember, Saturn launched in the US at the "low price" of 400$, and they had a VERY slim profit margin, which caused them no end of trouble when Sony America started a price war Sega couldn't afford to be in. In Japan, the Saturn launched at a price roughly equivalent to... 600 US dollars. And many people were expecting this in America, too.)

It'll probably be four discs if they can compress well enough.sweener2001 wrote:want a ps3 for blu-ray, and whatever game eventually comes out that is ps3 exclusive that i'll need to play.

I know Gil_Hamilton already mentioned it, but I needed to get one good use out of these pictures myself.

Because why make an intelligent post when you can copy an image from another thread.franpa wrote:neo_bahamut1985 wrote:I think back in the day, Apple/Bandai released a console called the Pippin; it was released in 1996 http://www.pcworld.com/article/125772-6 ... tml#pippin If they failed then, they'll likely fail again. I was thinking of posting this the day it was announced, but then I realized it was redundant because everybody probably knew about it already.
Anyway, yeah, it's great that I won't need to buy (or borrow) a PS3 for FF13 anymore. But on the other hand, I wasn't really going to in the first place, since I don't trust Squenix with the franchise anymore.

I am playing XII and enjoying it. Admittedly, I have not yet completed the game, but I have liked it thus far. Why did you not like it?sweener2001 wrote:it can't be worse than 12, and that excites me. at least i hope it can't be worse. the trailer looks exciting, anyway.
but i'll probably buy it anyway for 360, BECAUSE I CAN

It's an MMO, except they removed the multiplayer aspect and tacked on a lame storyline afterward. I'm convinced that's what they did.
