Super DX-Ball is a worthy clone to try too, has diagonal and odd shaped bricks etc. and retains the lack of retarded graphics that is present in DX-Ball 2

Why must I suck at Breakout and Breakout clones? :(

They can get pretty intense. I tend to lose pretty quickly when the ball starts bouncing too fast. There was this one clone I recall playing that had an evil power-up that would shrink the paddle if you picked it up by accident. Ugh..

Oh it has that feature too? I'm pretty sure it's not this one because it had way better graphics compared to the screenshots on the page. I tried searching google, but nothing turned up. Though it could be one of those things that you recall from a long ass time ago that wasn't quite how you remembered it. Like I was trying to find an old arcade tank shooting game which I thought was 3D and it turned out to be vindicators which was isometric.

DX-Ball 2 had worser graphics though... probably because it was made by a different company ;)

True, but since it had more colours and alpha and gradientz and stuff, it's possible one might remember them as being "better".

The shrinking paddle powerdown is not unique to DX-Ball/2 though of course...

The point of the pair of words worse/worst is not having to use "er" or "est".

Yup, it was made by a different company! As soon as I figure out the name I think I'll post it here. It was a really fun one too.

Edit: Finally found out which one it was. It's a game called Electranoid. Haha I was wrong about the game being good though. I guess when you're younger everything seems 10x better.

Goes all the way back to Arkanoid.
...
Arkanoid 2, actually, if I'm not mistaken.

Which is STILL earlier than all the mediocre shareware/freeware knockoffs that call themselves Breakout games to avoid being compared to the best in genre that they're ripping off.

On the topic of anoying errors people make with the word "worse":
I fucking hate it when people type "worse <noun> ever", it makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with the language processing parts of their brains.

On topic: I remember playing these games before having an optical mouse could get pretty frustrating.

Pfft.
You just took the ball out and spun the roller with your finger tip.

Only time I ever had a real problem was XWing. The mouse exploded.

DX-Ball was pretty awesome, although the best Breakout clone I've ever played is BreakQuest. Krypton Egg was damn fun too.
