Super metroid run speed?
I've searched all over the internet looking for a solution, but no luck. Anyway, when I play super metroid Samus doesn't run at full speed which causes some problems in certain areas of the game. Is this something I need to change in the settings or is this some sort of glitch?
Get the speed booster.

Letting Samus fall down the hole is good method of sorting people out.. if we had to kill the dummies.Fras wrote:I can't believe that it even got a name(noob bridge). Is it that hard to run?grinvader wrote:... green brinstar crumbling blocks room strikes yet another time.

You're not in the minority. It just happens that the majority that post don't bother to check. At least in Mega Man X, you could understand the confusion there...Gil_Hamilton wrote:To be fair, Super Metroid IS the only game in the franchise with a run button.
Not that anyone peeking around in the options menu wouldn't know about it, but I seem to be in the minority of people that crawl through the options menu and remap controls before they even know what the controls do...

I'm a firm lover of the dash button.fbb wrote:yeah
somewhat its useless
they could have programmed for you to run only with the d-pad
but then the poor B button would rot as the only button without a function
Just look at all the fun stuff you can do in SM that you can't ever possibly pull in MF or M0M just because there's no such button.
It sucks.
Even if Gil disagrees. It does.

I always have jump on the B button... D:fbb wrote:yeah

Because 'the yellow button is the jump button'... at least, that's how it was for me when i played on our SNES at the age <10 and barely understood english. :D
I blame it on people having too many games these days, and the internet. It used to be when you hit an obstacle all you had to figure it out was you. I figured this out after about 5 minutes in the 2nd grade. Run buttons rule.
Seriously, what kind of asshole makes an old-school 2D emulator that requires a Core 2 to get full speed? >:(
completely agreed.I blame it on people having too many games these days, and the internet.
thats why i love super metroid
you had to dedicate yourself since there were no things like...
Navigation Rooms
or...
a CO telling you where to go (in-game walkthrough).
you have the map and the gear... good luck.

super metroid is more difficult than zero mission and fusion.Super Metroid is the easiest game in the series. If people can't figure how to do things then they will be screwed on Fusion and Zero Mission.
both metroids on gba help you saying where to go and reminds you
of your objectives
you dont have that on super.

The tapping on specific frames to generate low-speed speed booster or letting off for specific frames to generate high-speed no-boost are the only tricks I know, and they're exploiting faulty game logic.
Hell, Fusion locks all the doors so you don't even have options.fbb wrote:super metroid is more difficult than zero mission and fusion.Super Metroid is the easiest game in the series. If people can't figure how to do things then they will be screwed on Fusion and Zero Mission.

Of course, Fusion has a damage ratio more like the original NES game(high). But it's so easy to restore health that it's not as much of a concern as the NES game.

You don't need the reminder as the locations are easy to figure out. The enemies are very easy to kill unlike Fusion and Zero Mission. You can kill the aquatic boss very easy with the grappling shot.fbb wrote:super metroid is more difficult than zero mission and fusion.Super Metroid is the easiest game in the series. And EVERYONE figured the grappling hook trick out on their own.Neo Kaiser wrote:You don't need the reminder as the locations are easy to figure out. Anyways, the original argument was complexity difficult, not raw damage difficult. And SM is FAR easier to get hopelessly lost in.

fusion is definitely easier, since i've beat that, and not super metroid. actual carts for both, by the way.
funny story, my cousin and i both got snes games from my aunt one christmas. i got super metroid, and he got shaq fu. that sales guy knew what to push, and he knew how to move stock as well.

i can STILL beat metroid on cart in under an hour. didn't you kids learn to play a game until it's practically instinct?
the metroids themselves are no threat in SM, which was a major disappointment to me. the beasties in the original game used to generate palpable FEAR, because you knew if you missed an icebeam shot on one of the quick ones you could have a serious problem. ditto in m2 and zm (on hard).
