There doesn't seem to be many left. The founder set up his own company and twenty FRD folks are working there now. It's all sounding like Rare to me.Gil_Hamilton wrote:How much of the talent is still there?snkcube wrote:http://kotaku.com/5145829/crytek-buys-free-radical

Platinum Games(where all Capcom's talent went) was formed in 2006 and hasn't got a game out yet.sweener2001 wrote:so they just formed up their own company a couple months ago and are supposed to have pooped a game out already?
i don't know enough about the people who left rare to comment on them
...
Which says a lot about what it takes to make a game these days, I guess.

Their first game (MadWorld) will be out in a month.

Free Radical is now called Crytek UK. Not really a surprise as this is a common practice for acquisitions.

Think about the group in Rare who made Perfect Dark and Goldeneye 007 and you get your answer.i don't know enough about the people who left rare to comment on them
h4tred he doesn't mean free radical, he means the people who left RARE recently like the founders etc.
also the former members of free radical did do goldeneye but not perfect dark, perfect dark was released in 2000 and free radical had already left and been formed early 1999 IIRC.
EDIT:
from wikipedia
basically it was retooled after they left.

from wikipedia
so some of them were involved with some of the process but not all of it.wikipedia wrote:Martin Hollis was involved with Perfect Dark for the first fourteen months of its three-year development, during which progress was slow. David Doak left at the end of 1998, and Steve Ellis soon after, to form Free Radical Design. What followed by those remaining on the project was a comprehensive re-design of the game (the story and characters being the main items kept intact). Hollis stated that he was impressed by the comprehensive range of multiplayer options, saying "what a vast array of features I never planned". Doak, however, remarked, "GoldenEye pretty much exhausted the performance of the machine. It was hard to push it further. Perfect Dark had some good ideas but was dog slow."
Seriously, what kind of asshole makes an old-school 2D emulator that requires a Core 2 to get full speed? >:(
