Inadvertent HDD formatting = beating myself up for doing so
Okay, so, I was attempting to reinstall WinXP on another PC (the OS had corrupt system files, and thus needed to be reisntalled). Not to mention that the Windows HDD wasn't being detected, but I didn't realize this until AFTER. So, I boot of the XP CD to initialize an reinstall. Well, I do so, but it gave me no choice but to delete the partition and start over. I select the partition and format it. However, after I formatted, I realized that I did something that not only was stupid but downright asinine.
The HDD I meant to delete the partition on was the wrong HDD! Yes, I did make backup DVDs here and there, but going through them one by one is awfully tedious, so, is there any good/free recovery software for accidentally formatted HDDs?

You can try Recuva - http://www.recuva.com . It's made by the same people who bring you the wonderful CCleaner.neo_bahamut1985 wrote:The HDD I meant to delete the partition on was the wrong HDD! Keep in mind that if you wrote data over the files in addition to formatting, you may have some issues recovering the files, but it's worth a try.

The amount of stupid shit happening to you is ridiculously daunting. It's not even funny anymore, you're exactly like a retarded kid who breaks everything he touches.

.......
Oh, I see how it is now. I go on a forum and ask a technical question just to have my freakin' head bitten off. Not to mention have myself compared to a kid who not only breaks everything he touches, but sucks at life. Gee, had I know that before I would've never asked for advice. It all makes sense now. First of all, I'm 23 and not some noob. Second of all, I know very well how to operate computers and have been doing so since 1994. All I was asking for was advice, not to be the brunt of snide remarks and asinine arguments.

Sometimes, there's like "something missing" when you ask your questions and I don't know what it is (I'm not saying you're not intelligent, but it seems like you're missing some obvious step when you ask them...)South Park wrote:There are no stupid questions... just stupid people.

how long you've been using computers has nothing to do with it.
the fact that nearly every topic you've started in the last couple months have been about crap you have that's not working, and then your subsequent ability to ignore all advice you claim to ask for.
i mean, what did you do in this topic? formatted the wrong partition, was it? it's a retard/n00b move

I chalk it up to ignorance or carelessness (or both).sweener2001 wrote:the fact that nearly every topic you've started in the last couple months have been about crap you have that's not working, and then your subsequent ability to ignore all advice you claim to ask for.

Because you were careless.neo_bahamut1985 wrote:And this deletion isn't an accident..why?
Still, any good recover software or service worth the trouble is going to be complex and expensive, something you obviously can't handle, I seriously doubt that you have 120 gigabytes worth of user created data.
So suck it up, use your back up dvds and redownload all that anime, games, movies, music and porn.
