multiplayer seiken densetsu 3 bug
hi, playing seiken densetsu 3 (also known as secret of mana 2) together wth a friend in a local area network, I experienced that it seem to be two different games.
The Monsters and NPCs we met behave totally different on each machine, so playing together is absolutely not possible, because hp, count and strength of monsters are not equal, not even their position... but when my friend moves, I can see him move... but hes often just not where he should be, he's for example not in the same screen, or in my game he is dead, while in his he's still fighting.
Is there anything that can be done against this? I'm using the compiled 1.36 linux source and he the windows binarys, same version.

with "ZSNES WIP October 24" under GNU, I don't have any netplay compability like in 1.37presomethingsomething, that I've been using for single play (working perfect) until I replaced it with 1.36 to use netplay...
same problem on this version, starting a server or connecting to a server, actually nothing happens

According to Nach, one of the developers, my definition of IPX is wrong. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, but I fail to see what IPX has to do with the issue here.
My guess is there are some incompatibilities between Linux and Windows, but I never tried it...

I can play just fine using a proper configured router and two machines on my lan, I'm using the Windows version BTW. Maybe a Linux only problem?mexandrew wrote:According to Nach, one of the developers, IPX is not working too good. I remember that IPX ramdomly loses packets and can go easily out of sync. The router isn't an issue.
Edit: Darn, I didn't read the last part about using both Linux and Windows. I vote for incompability or wrong router configuration.

I just netplayed between Linux and Windows no problem by running ZSNESW on both of them.
Although I have trouble with keyboard input in WINE.
pagefault told me you won't have keyboard trouble under WineX.

I can't recreate your problem, as I can't even get Linux netplay to start.zaiyon wrote:can you tell me the version you tried nach? Is there the problem I talked about or does everything work well?
Read what I wrote carefully.
What I got to work was this:
http://www.ipherswipsite.com/files/zsne ... W_1024.zip
And it worked well.

are you having the same netplay problems like me?Nach wrote:I can't recreate your problem, as I can't even get Linux netplay to start.
When I try to start netplay (start a server or connect to one) not using the version 1.36, actually nothing happens, the usual window opens, but without any output, nobody is able to connect to a server opened like this.
compile 1.36 and use the 1.36 windows binaries if you wish to recreate my problem, then try seiken densetsu 3 and play some minutes together (in this game, the first player starts playing and the other one has to watch until player one is far enough trough the story to meet the player of your choice, but in my case, the monster in the first fight just behaved different from that on the other machine.
wine or cedega (WineX) don't work good after all, problems with keyboard input and graphic problems under cedega...

That's what I mean by netplay not starting.zaiyon wrote:are you having the same netplay problems like me?Nach wrote:I can't recreate your problem, as I can't even get Linux netplay to start.

I'm not going to touch 1.36, as bugs with it that don't exist currently are irrelivant.zaiyon wrote: compile 1.36 and use the 1.36 windows binaries if you wish to recreate my problem,
I metioned that already. Have a gamepad?zaiyon wrote: wine or cedega (WineX) don't work good after all, problems with keyboard input and graphic problems under cedega...

nope.... I tried to compile several versions from source (I'm using gentoo linux, so compilation is usually done automaticaly using an ebuild) as said in the install.txt, but on running ./configure, I get an unusual error about SDL, here is the whole output:
