i cant choose an enemy

ok i'm playing lufia and the whole thing works great except for when i'm in battle with multiple enemies the cursor that shows which enemy i'm attacking is scrolling through the enemies so i cant choose a specific one i want to attack please help this nooby play his favorite rpg
