Am I the only one .... (Sound Glitch)

Post by Foomy »

that notice a MASSIVE Sound Fail in the Game: "The legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past"?
First of all, I want to say that I am a die-hard zsnes fanboii deluxe³, but there's this one little detail that bugs since the first time I played alttp on the zsnes:
Each time Link climbs a staircase there won't be the clear and defined staircase sound I know from the SNES, but instead there is something different, something "muddy", but definitely not what it should sound like.

Here's an example video I've found:
http://www.clipfish.de/video/2079421/
Skip to 2:20 to hear Link climbing a staircase.

I'm 10000% sure the creator uses ZSNES for his speedrun, because that's exactly what I hear when climbing a staircase in alttp using ZSNES, as described above.

Using other emulators, this "sound-glitch" won't happen, but I like ZSNES so much that it's hard to take another just for one game :(
Maybe there is a secret option I don't know of to fix this problem and, finally, is there anyone else noticing this? I can't believe that I am the only one ever bringing this up, but even the search-function didn't deliver any other examples...

i've noticed it as well, it sounds to me like there's a slight echo on the footstep sound effect when there shouldn't be.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.
