zmovie.cfg - higher video output
Well, hi there.
I've been searching for about 2 hours for fitting settings of zmovie.cfg for a larger video output than 256x224.
Everyone's been talking about "uh, thats not good for the quality" or "why do you want to change settings? these are fine.".
I do record video with mencoder.exe and sound with lame.exe. So theres no problem to do that.
I really don't have any knowlegde on changing these settings.
What I want the rendered and final video (WITHOUT installing another program like virtualdub or some other crap) to be is:
- 768x672 resolution
- hq filter 3x
It cannot be that difficult, but, well, I'm new to this stuff and tired of searching getting nothing to work. So please help me. Help other who maybe want to have those settings or similar to these. Or even a tutorial where things can be changed easily and in an understanding way.
P.S.: I made a video with standard settings, this what I got. I don't like it in this form.

Thanks in advance.

Except when it is.Izeyash wrote:It cannot be that difficult
ZSNES dumps are currently 256x224. If you want higher, dump the movie uncompressed and postprocess it all you want with external filters.
Looks as good as it gets, since that's the native resolution for that game.P.S.: I made a video with standard settings, this what I got. I don't like it in this form.

So the first problem is, I don't get the hell you tell me. Show me the instructions and commands directly so I can copy/paste them in my zsnes.cfg file.
If you tell me things about "dumping" and "uncompressed" in this case, I totally don't get it, really.
Edit: What a KIND support we have here.

Hi!
I know you posted this long time ago, but i just saw it. I do not know if you already solved your problem or not, but in case you have not, i want to share with you something that may help you. It is a little program that allows you configure mencoder to fit your preferences in zsnes video recording. It requires Java to work and you can download it from http://www.sendspace.com/file/hy7eu3
I hope i've helped you.

You're funny.
You don't help this guy, and criticize any help provided by others, that's the only obscure thing arround here.

What's to help? He wanted something the program literally cannot do at present.Ferkhis wrote:You're funny.

He also hasn't visited the board since January 26, as apparently being told by a developer that "the program can't do that" instead of getting a hand-holding walkthrough on how to do the impossible was a massively offensive insult to his honor or something. So you aren't helping him.

Re: zmovie.cfg - higher video output
What do you mean by "the program cannot do it"? What this guy wants is to modify zmovie.cfg to produce higher resolutions using mencoder.exe and lame.exe. The program i put there modifies the parameters of zmovie.cfg so when producing recorded video it is saved with the selected resolutions on the program, I HAVE MADE THIS many times... I do not get you when you sayic can not be done.
Look at this video and look well its quality... i made it this way.

Look here:
What you did is not what he asked. What he asked cannot be done. Game over ?Izeyash wrote:What I want the rendered and final video (WITHOUT installing another program like virtualdub or some other crap) to be is:

Yup. Although my intense jerkassitude is hardly obscure.Ferkhis wrote:You're funny.

Re: zmovie.cfg - higher video output
He HASN'T to install anything, Mr. Obscure!
Re: zmovie.cfg - higher video output
What he's saying is that there's no way you can edit zmovie.cfg that will allow it to output with hq3x scaling.
Here are the options available for an up to date mencoder (I think the one generally used for zsnes's encoding is pretty old):
No hq3x.
Here are the options available for an up to date mencoder (I think the one generally used for zsnes's encoding is pretty old):
Code: Select all
-sws <software scaler type> (also see -vf scale and -zoom)
Specify the software scaler algorithm to be used with the -zoom option. This affects video output drivers which lack
hardware acceleration, e.g. x11.
Available types are:
0 fast bilinear
1 bilinear
2 bicubic (good quality) (default)
3 experimental
4 nearest neighbor (bad quality)
5 area
6 luma bicubic / chroma bilinear
7 gauss
8 sincR
9 lanczos
10 natural bicubic spline
