I downloaded the files from the ZSNES site but it looks as though I have to compile it or something? I'm totally new to linux so I was hoping to get a walkthrough or something. Thanks!
Oh yeah and I searched the forum for similar posts but the only one I found described how to install it from a package manager which doesn't work for me. The version of ZSNES that's in Ubuntu software force closes on me.

Try running it from a terminal to see what it says.

He hasn't compiled it yet.paulguy wrote:Try running it from a terminal to see what it says.
Gozilla, go there and try the appropriate binary for your system. Make sure you have required libraries.

I know that, but he said he installed a binary package. He may not be required to compile from source if the problem with the binary package is simple.

Hey thanks for the responses, I went to that link, the downloaded files look the same as the files from zsnes website, there is a folder called "src" and a folder called "docs". What do I do with these?

there are links for builds optimized for various processor families, and one link for the modified source. you downloaded the modified source.
you need to download the build appropriate for your processor; if you don't know, tell us what CPU you have and we'll tell you which build is best for you.
