Goodsnes x NSRT

Post by crocomire »

I found some strange differences between Goodsnes 2.04 and NSRT 3.3:

Good: Pocky & Rocky 2 (U) [!]
NSRT:

Code: Select all

---------------------Internal ROM Info----------------------
       File: Pocky_&_Rocky_2_(U)_[!].smc
       Name: POCKY&ROCKY2 Company: Natsume
     Header: SWC Bank: LoROM
Interleaved: No SRAM: 0 Kb
       Type: Normal ROM: 12 Mb
    Country: USA Video: NTSC
ROM Speed: 200ns (SlowROM) Version: 1.0
   Checksum: Good 0x186E CRC32: FC00BB1B
--------------------------Database--------------------------
ROM wasn't found in the database (possible bad dump).
You can try using -fix or -findover to see if the
file has been slightly altered and rectifiable.
Good: Pocky & Rocky 2 (Beta)
NSRT:

Code: Select all

---------------------Internal ROM Info----------------------
       File: Pocky_&_Rocky_2_(Beta).smc
       Name: POCKY&ROCKY2 Company: Natsume
     Header: SWC Bank: LoROM
Interleaved: No SRAM: 0 Kb

    Country: USA Video: NTSC
ROM Speed: 120ns (FastROM) Version: 1.1
   Checksum: Bad 0x59B9 != 0x59C1    CRC32: 02C110E4
--------------------------Database--------------------------
ROM wasn't found in the database (possible bad dump).
You can try using -fix or -findover to see if the
file has been slightly altered and rectifiable.
In those cases, what are the most correct results?
Do other different results exist?

its possible they're good but not yet in the nsrt database; but I find it odd that goodsnes would put [!] on a bad checksummed rom

You really should update your NSRT.

Recent NSRTs write 'Revision' here, which is the correct term.

Not to mention the revision byte is now interpeted correctly, which not a single other utility out there does.
May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

So if it's not found in the database, should we discard these ROMs?

I'd hold onto Pockey & Rocky.
But delete the Super Star Wars region hack.
