Ah yes, when Jeremy Koot (or was it Gary Henderson, perhaps?) accused Mr. Grim of giving zsKnight and _Demo_ the snes9x sound source code. Good times. I wonder what Jeremy would've thought if someone told him back then that one day both emulators would be fully open source and share code with each other to better both emulators.

haha That was good for a memory flashback laugh! I remember GrimSNES. I believe that may have been a result of that very incident.
People use to accuse other people of stealing their work left and right back then. It was hilarious. I think that says alot about the age of the people in the scene in general. Many people were teens back then and have matured into their twenties and I think that's why alot of those problems went away. Most people working on ZSNES and SNES9x are older, more mature people. Same can be said for the romhacking/translation community to an extent. I realize there are still plenty of younger people, but the veterans and people doing the most noteworthy work tend to be older now.
I think we all did some immature things back then.

YES!Hexlord wrote:It would be cool if someone documented the entire history from beginning to the current situation now
I remember looking for ages on the web for a history of emulation type thing. I saw something on zophar, but it wasn't what I wanted. I find the progress of emulators to be really fascinating. That is how much of a geeek I am. I remember getting really excited when pcsx2 started to get games running at a hefty 3fps

This idea has been proposed before in various places. When it gets right down to it, no one actually did any writing. It seems we all think it's a good idea to document the history of the scene, but we're all too lazy to actually do it!
Someone needs to organize a webpage and get some actual writing started. Perhaps that will motivate others.

I found a site which has an archive of e-mails about SNES dev between zsKnight and another author. I can find it if it's wanted.Nightcrawler wrote:This idea has been proposed before in various places. When it gets right down to it, no one actually did any writing. A slight related topic: Who was the member that posted some of the best topics from zsnesboard? I think it might have been Megabyte. I'd really like to see them again, if anyone still has them.
