does anyone know a way to patch a working romancing saga 3 rom without the screwed up graphics/words on the intro/menu screen? (a specific rom/patch maybe?)
manasword's translates the story pretty well, but the words in the menu are very unintelligible, and the other patch (dragonsoft or something) is the other way around
I have the translation made by disnesquick and Mana Sword and I have not experienced this errors you speak of.
Yeah, read the docs, read them twice just to make sure you understood all of it.

Using ZSNES or SNES9X, if you have Romancing SaGa 3 in Window Mode with no screen renders enabled, then the menu text will appear scrambled and illegible. This can be resolved by applying a screen render or entering Full Screen Mode.
The menu of the game does not appear correctly. The font looks blurred/missing a few columns/scrambled. However, normal game dialogues appear to be fine.
RS3 uses special high resolution mode for menus. For ZSNES, you need to use 640x480x16B with VESA2 display mode with all other options (like interpolation) off to display the menu correctly. This is not a bug of the game or the patch. For SNES9X you will also need high resolution mode plus transparency enabled for correct display. The Business game uses a even more special display mode that ZSNES will fail. You will be able to see only the text on the left as the text on the right will go off the screen. Only SNES9X can display the Business Game menu correctly for the moment. However, since the Business game is known to be glitchy, don't test it for now until further fix is implemented.

by the way, what is VESA?
Video Electronics Standard Association. They created different kinds of standards. The VESA in DOS is sort of a advanced video mode extension of sorts.
