chill out, and grow up. the people posting here are just trying to help. they aren't all computer experts. don't be so quick to flame them. you're hurting zsnes' reputation, and alienating the users. stop it. it feels like a gamefaqs board in here.

1. What are you referring to?
2. People who are not computer experts are the ones who SHOULD RTFM
3. They only "flame" (more like be a little rude) when its clear they did not RTFM
4. Aerdan = Vareni Stargazer

But it takes nerves of steel to do that over and over and over again.Evan wrote:I agree, there is no need to create some all caps message every time some new user asks about something that is in the readme. Just politely point to the answer.

And let's be honest, nobody likes someone who doesn't bother to read the docs that were so carefully written for that very purpose, and then expect that complete strangers DO spend effort for them on finding the info they need.

I have been a moderator here for something like 3 years now. I do not flame people unless they truely deserve it. And I would say "RTFM!!!!!" is a pretty big flame to some non-techie. It is like Home Improvement, no man reads the instructions.blackmyst wrote:But it takes nerves of steel to do that over and over and over again.Evan wrote:I agree, there is no need to create some all caps message every time some new user asks about something that is in the readme. Reputation? What reputation? This board always had a reputation of being nasty and vicious at times.stale wrote:you're hurting zsnes' reputation, and alienating the users.

<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

I would like to think that the majority of people who have the cognitive ability to sign up on a forum (which requires typing skills, browser skills, the ability to set up an email account, etc) also have the ability to read very basic (read: easy to understand) documentation that is INCLUDED with the thing.
A lot of people get very irate when we point this out, some of which reply with such things as "omg what r u telling me to RTFM? wats ur problem???" and "ur mom sucks k0ck!1 omfg". Not everyone is like this and some will even AKNOWLEDGE they have made a casual mistake and *gasp* learn from it.
Do I think that gives people a good reason to flame every new person? No. But at the same time there is no excuse for being lazy and then expecting other people to pick up the slack. If you think we're rude, you can leave. I personally don't give a shit if someone thinks ZSNES 'sucks donkey balls' because they themselves were too lazy to figure out how to use it in the first place.
That's all.

The problem with a lot of documentation is that it either isn't laid out well, or isn't searchable. I imagine a lot of people find it easier to just post here versus spending an hour reading all of the ZSNES docs.
They should at least go through the FAQ, though.

I have no problem with you locking my threads, but the posts that you use to lock the thread are really annoying, retarded, elitist and PAINFULLY NOT FUNNY.Evan wrote:I have been a moderator here for something like 3 years now.
