Gamepad acting up? Keyboard not responding properly? Can't get that other user to work? Read and post about it here.

Controller Issues...

Post by Stryder »

O.K. my friend and i are having some problems configuring the controllers.

my controller is a PlayStation 2 Control -> PS2 to PC Converter -> USB

it acts like any other usb controller, with ZSNES closed down i plug the controller in and wait for winXP to install it, once it has finished i run ZSNES and try configuring Input #1 by highlighting KEYB/JOYSTICK and clicking SET KEYS, the first button i press usually gets configured but after that it will either lock up or set the rest of they keys on J03 or J04.

(however for my controls it seems to randomly allow me to configure it properly, i just have to reboot ZSNES like 5 odd times =/ )

My friend is having the exact same problem with his only it isnt even configuring the first button it just locks up and takes about 82% of CPU.

His controller is a Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Pro (USB)

Anyone got any tips? (Please bear in mind i have fully read the FAQ and in relation to what was said on there we do not hold any keys/buttons untill we need to configure the controller)

Peace out

What's the make of the converter?
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

Make sure the analog button on the Playstation 2 contrller (saying PS2 just confuses people, makes them think of the old keyboard/mouse plug) is set to the 'ON'/'RED' mode. Then go into the Control Panel -> Game Controllers and re-calibrate the controller. While you're there make sure all buttons are being recognized individually in that control panel.

Usually when everything gets set to the same button, it's the analog stick being off-kilter and being the first thing recognized. This is the only solution I can think of at this point.

After really fighting this one I have a solution. Either run zsnes in full screen.... Or set each button individually by clicking on it in the input setup screen [ie. Click the up setting and press the up button on your controller etc etc etc. I had this problem for weeks. I almost gave up but gave it one more go and tried these two things...... Works GREAT now....... Thank you ZSNES......
