If you think that looks good, try HQ3X.

Why not HQX4 while he's at it...
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

No games look really horrible with interpolation, but some games do with HQXx.

Those with simple graphics (SMW etc.) look the best with HQ?x. The others rely on the television's interpolation effect, IMO.

IMO, the only thing hqxX messes up is thin text.

Can some give me a good example game that looks bad with it? I can't think of any, at the moment. Thanks

Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country, Mortal Kombat and the like work bad with hq filters.

Basically any game that uses detailed sprites and backgrounds. In these cases, 2xSAI or even standard interpolation look better, since the hq does not enhance the picture, but creates artifacts.

Hq filters look better with games that use simple colours, eg. Bomberman games, Super Mario games, most RPGs, Zelda.

Even games with low detailed sprites dont look nearly as good as a SAI filter... I've tried hq with every ROM I've played and they look horrible and pixilated. I generally use 2XSAI or Super 2XSAI for some games.

2xSAI is too blurry for me for most games, especially since I use a decent CRT. Hq is not pixelated for me in the games I mentioned it works good with.

That's odd because half of what I play are RPGs, I'll blame it on my bad monitor.
