Here's the deal...
For awhile, my newly-purchased PC USB controllers (12 button Gamer's Factory brand...) worked with only some of my windows apps...Project 64, Jnes, etc. and not with others, including ZSNES. Then, I changed some setting, and they both finally worked with all programs. I had to do a system restore and now I'm back to square one with the same problem, only the thing I think I did to fix it isn't working. I'm pretty sure I went to control panel, game controllers, advanced, and set the gamepad as the primary device or whatever. I've done that a lot now, and it just doesn't work. I have sucessfully installed it, windows recognizes it, it tests fine and calibrates fine. my directX is version 9c, and windows is 100% up to date. I should also note that I'm using a saitek gamer's keyboard, and even though that is recognized and installed by windows, Zsnes doesn't recognize the little numberpad thing with it, either (it's treated as another gamepad by windows)
Someone help!

Re: USB controller woes
Join the club of people having problems with the Saitek Gamer's Keyboard. My theory is that because Windows is detecting it as a gamepad and I can't find a way to disable it, and Zsnes and similar emulators won't let you manually set what gamepad to use, this is leading to a conflict. I've posted on a few forums, if I find a fix I'll let you know.Astantax wrote:Here's the deal...

Oh, about that - I forgot to mention that for awhile, I couldn't get the Gamer's Keyboard drivers to install with the disc it came with; Visual C++ errors or something. This was during that short time in which I managed to make my gamer's factory pad work with Zsnes. I downloaded a fix from saitek's website for the keyboard and now the keyboard's drivers are installed (and my other gamepad doesn't work).
I tried disabling the keyboard in Device Manager, and though it disappeared from the Game Controllers list, I still couldn't get the gamepad to work.
Oddly enough, I also have a Microsoft sidewinder (the old kind with just a D pad, 4 buttons and 2 shoulder buttons) that works like a charm in Zsnes. I'd rather use my GF gamepads though, because I have two of them and they have more than enough buttons for all my games - with the sidewinder I keep having to hit the keyboard for select and start...
