Trouble getting started with SNEX, keyboard not workin

I just downloaded ZSNES and I tried a few Public Domain games to test it out. I got them to work but couldnt get past the opening menu. I tried commodore 64 and when I pressed enter on the opening screen it went to a messed up corrupted screen. When I tried Bouncing ball i could press the arrow keys on the menu but when i tried to play it, it went to a black screen.
I also downloaded FFIII and the opening sequence would play but i couldnt get any controls to work (I pressed every key on the damn keyboard, not one of them worked!) except for the fastfoward and the 1234567890 and Fkeys.
I tried to configure the keys but it didnt seem to help ( i may have done it wrong so any suggestions there might help)
I have windows ME which seems to fuck up EVERYTHING, so plz help.

IIRC, when you start a new game in FFIII, you can't skip the intro.

it just keeps playing over and over though. still cant press any buttons or get to the opening menu

Have you tried with other games? Post the rom's rominfo.

i got the newer Work in progress version and it seems to work, but i'll come back if i have any more problems thanks
