Really Confused, Please Help

Post by duduhapytnklclub »

Hello, I just downloaded the new version of the emulator, and I'm a total newbie. A couple of my friends at school were playing and it got me interested. However, I can't figure out for the life of me how to get a rom started. I've looked all over for a FAQ to explain it but they all seem to only have answers for more complicated questions. I see where your supposed to type the file location but I don't know if I type everything from the drive to the file itself or because above the typing box it says the location of the file do I just type the file alone? I'm really very confused, if anyone has the time to type out some specific steps for me it would be much appreciated, thanks!

In the Game->Load menu, just double-click the ROM name. If you can't find where your ROM is in that menu, move your ROM to your ZSNES folder.

You could also drag&drop a ROM file icon onto the ZSNES *.exe, or a shortcut to it.

I've been hearing that dragging and dropping can break things.

Yes, it does work, but it can sometimes screw you over.

I remember having the same problem when I first used the emulator. I had my rom and everything, but I was very new to computers and had never seen a GUI like ZSNES. I was really confused. We all have to start somewhere!

Ok, so I moved my games to my ZSNES folder and they show up when I go to load, but I can't get them to actually start loading. I select the game I want (on the left side) then hit load, and nothing happens. What am I missing here?

I find that hard to believe, try just doublecl¡cking on the game's name on the load menu.

doublecl¡cking
???

Make sure you have roms (usually .smc files) and not save states (.zs? files) or save roms (.srm files) or anything else like that. Remember! Don't ask for roms here.

I have always doubleclicked on the games on the load menu. Instead of using the "load" button, any problem with that?

Or you could associate Zsnes with ROM extensions like .smc and .fig. I did that... even though I still load everything through Zsnes normally.

Thank you!!!! Double-clicking was the trick, now one last question... I searched all over the F.A.Q.'s, and other posts, but I couldn't find anything about how t make it full screen, though I thought I had seen something yesterday. Sorry if I overlooked it, I don't want to double-post a question.

Just choose any resolution that you want at Config/Video that has an "F" next to it, that means it's fullscreen. I'm quite sure *that's* in the docs.

I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Yup. 0xA1, unicode for inverted exclamation mark.

¡ola, que tal!
