ZSNES states in SNES9x

Post by Soul Colossus »

At school when I don't have shit to do I like to play SNES games off my flash drive, however a lot of of the school computers don't give permissions to access the DDraw renderer (or something along those lines... at any rate ZSNESW doesn't load due to a DirectX error) but SNES9x and ZSNESD both work. I'd rather use SNES9x, but I want to use my ZSNESW save states. I've read in the SNES9x readme and via google that SNES9x natively supports ZSNES states. They said that just having the ZST in the save dir and no SNES9x format states (.000, .001 etc files) will makes SNES9x default to the ZST files. Well I've tried this and it says it's a non-SNES9x freeze format. Are only certain versions of ZSNESW's states compatible or something?

I don't know exactly when Windows ZSNES Windows/DOS states became incompatible (but it was broken for sure since 1.42)..

I believe the most likely version that is the most compatible would be from ZSNES 1.36

The latest version of Snes9x is compatible with saves made from ZSNES v1.36 and earlier (although not sure if it works with states from v0.6).

Maybe one of these days I'll update Snes9x's ZST loader...
