What are the best options to input in zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator) 1.42?

We need a new slogan:
ZSNES: the SNES emulator that is not spelled zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator).
...
Anyway, it is somewhat subjective, but go with 32000 Hz for the sampling rate, and set Interpolation and Low pass to whatever you think is best. The bottom options are the "best," but, like I said, it's subjective.

is 8-point really better than cubic spline?
read many discussions about that, but there never was a conclusion..
and what's the difference between dynamic and hi quality??
got creative audigy 2 zs & logitech z-5300 5.1 system
what would be the best settings for me?
----------
offtopic -> what does hi-res mode 7 mean at all?
----------
[i know what hi-res means... but i can't see any change]

Do we even have a current slogan?Noxious Ninja wrote:We need a new slogan:

And unrelated but, why was the filter (I realize it has been this way awhile) changed to "beans for brains" from the previous "i'm dumb" one? The old one had a nicer ring to it I think.
EDIT: OK, they don't.Horstus wrote:I think they use 'I'm dumb' with the phrase 'SNES9X' nowThe Sage Of Time wrote:And unrelated but, why was the filter (I realize it has been this way awhile) changed to "beans for brains" from the previous "i'm dumb" one? The old one had a nicer ring to it I think.
tested on SoE and SoM... [Zsnes v1.42, Zsnes WIP vNov05.2005]
-> Dynamic Low Pass seems to produce multiple sound glitches..
(also read that in another topic before)
<means>
use Hi Quality
Using 8-Point Interpolation instead of Cubic Spline
doesn't make any audible differerence to me
so i'm using Cubic Spline!

zsnes (btw i am dumb) -> zsnes (btw i am dumb)
zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator) -> zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator)

There's also nsrt (btw i am stupid) -> nsrt (btw i am stupid). This might be old, but the reason people call ZSNES "zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator)" is because the .exe file they got is called "zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator)". I discovered this while browsing the files on my brother's girlfriend's notebook.

This site seems to have a good experiment to test your ears to the the subtle differences in the 3 different audio interpolation modes:
http://members.aol.com/g8orbyte/ozsounds.htm
It could be used in future FAQs perhaps..
The only negative is that the sound frequency is only at 22KHz..

Last I checked, the name of the exe was always zsnesw.exe.

<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
NSRT here.

I've compared 8-point and cubic spline and 8-point does seems slightly clearer to me. I tried it with Art of Fighting (title theme i think).l3v3l wrote:tested on SoE and SoM... [Zsnes v1.42, Zsnes WIP vNov05.2005]

I always disable low-pass filter... because i don't see the use of cutting of high frequencies.
I'm trying to get the best quality music (not most snes-like)

Well, low pass literaly means letting lower frequencies pass while removing the high frequencies.
Mp3 uses it to make files smaller. High frequencies are very hard to compress so it uses a low pass filter to remove the high frequencies. After that the sound will be much easier to compress because it doesn't have as much detail anymore.

If you want to be utterly anal, then you can turn off the Stereo sound if you had only a Mono TV with a single speaker. The chances of someone in the the early '90s having a stereo TV or rigging up stereo speakers is IMHO slim. Stereo sound sounds completely different in certain games to Mono (Zelda being one).
