I suggest you take your time to read the documentation that's located in this link: http://zsnes-docs.sf.net

After reading, try reading the "GUI" part first, if you still have problems, then ask away.

There is really no point in telling you how to run a rom when you can read the answer in the docs. If you have a question after reading, come back and will help you in what we can.

Edit.- To make things less painful, you can try leaving Zsnes and your roms in the same folder. So when you open the load menu, the roms will appear right away, so you won't need to browse.

So when you load the rom, it jumps directly to a battle? You don't even choose a new file? Sounds like a corrupt rom to me. Don't you have any other rom for you to try?

It might be a corrupt rom. You're trying to translate the rom?

You are trying to use a translation patch or what?

In any case, you need the Chrono trigger.smc and the appropiate .ips (If you want to translate or modify the rom in anyway)

You just need to rename the rom and the .ips patch the same way, for example:

CT.smc
CT.ips

After that, just open zsnes and load the .smc, that should load CT with the patch.

If you are just trying to run a .ips you won't be able to do it, you need to find a rom image to go along with the patch.

An ips file is a patch, not a rom. You cannot run ips files in zsnes. If you are trying to use a patch, include the patch file in your save directory, and make sure that it is the same name as your rom. Then load the rom.

My, my my....

That "Battle mode" is part of the game. It seems you've never played CT. Select a battle mode and play. It starts up and asks if you want "active" time mode or not.

Selection of the the battle mode is the FIRST thing that happens when there is no save games stored (eg. first time you've played the game)...

This is what totally confused the guy.. it's very much similar to the recent FF3 post about the New Game... ugh..

Thinking about this: The documentation doesn't go much into detail on what the IPS feature is all about...

You're right. The documentation tells how to apply a patch, but it doesn't tell what an IPS patch is. I'll see if I can insert a small paragraph to explain it.

I've been dropping lots of hints on stuff to improve the FAQ in my posts... but meh  :)
