Frustration with the Logitech Precision

Post by cobaltgrc »

The Logitech Precision (or more likely my computer) is driving me mad. I recently bought a Precision to play some games on my computer... it's a USB plug'n'play device so I plugged in and expected to play but the thing just won't respond.

Windows automaticly detects the gamepad and it apears in the Game Controllers control window however calbiration does not work and the test box does not respond. At first I thought it was a bad controller but then I tried it in my gf's laptop.. and guess what? It worked... so after playing a few rounds of Super Marior Bros 3 I returned to trying to solve the problem of the gamepad not working with my computer. But I feel defeated and I'm at my wits end. If anyone out there has any tips or clues on how to help me out let me know.. Otherwise I'll just be bummed.

Driver conflict? Try removing other controller devices, and checking Device manager for problems.

USB can be a finicky thing, you may just have odd USB ports.

yeah I downloaded this program through logitech.com that is supose to clear out all gamepad drivers (not that I have any other gamepads).. I did that and then tried plugging in my Precision again.. still doesn't work.

Other places suggested that I update my BIOS so the USB slots can handle more 'modern' hardware.. so I did that and it still doesn't work.

I feel I'm running out of options.

le sigh. :(

Um...

Using a front USB port?

Front USB ports are really problem-happy. Seriously, I know 3 people whose front USB ports are all fubared. And one of them wasn't a home-built computer.

Try a back port.

been trying the back ports they haven't worked so now I'm going to try the USB hub on my monitor. Thanks for the input, though.
