I'm not sure if this works anymore, but give it a shot:

Power up your system *without* the USB adapter attached.

Remove all controllers from the game controller list. To do this, select a controller and then click the Remove button.

In that same game controller applet in Control Panel, Add a generic "2-axis, 2-button joystick."

Install your special adapter drivers again. When installing, make sure that they are the Windows XP/2000 drivers and not anything else. (not 95/98/ME).

Reconnect your USB adapter to the computer with the PS2 controllers already plugged in. What I'm saying is, don't plug in the adapter and then plug in the game controllers into the adapter. Have the controllers already plugged in.

It should auto-detect and add the game controller to the list in the Control Panel. If not, you need to manually do this by clicking the Add button and then select the Adapter/Controller name.

Either way, now try calibration.

If it works, you can remove the dummy "2-axis, 2-button joystick."

No guarantees, but this has worked in the past. It has to do with the fact that the drivers are dodgy and depend on some .dll's that don't normally get installed.

If it doesn't work, your adapter is broken (most likely), or your computer itself is broken (still likely).

Did you by any chance plug in the adapter before installing the drivers?

yea i tried both plugging the adapter in before loading the driver, and than loading the driver before plugging in the adapter, but still nothing happens. i think it might be the gameport thats not working.

If you plugged the adapter in fist before trying to load drivers, you shot yourself in the foot. Anything done after that is moot, even if you installed the drivers first afterwards, windows is alrready going to load the default HID drivers instead of the ones you installed. Thats possibly what your trouble there is, at least its identified. (I know I have had done this before and had limited succuess trying to fix it.)

As to an answer on how to fix this, I'm not sure, but try going to device manager, and look for HID compliant device (the one that windows loads for your adapter). Double click on it, and click update driver, and then browse to your driver either on its disc or where it installs on your computer, and try that.

If that don't work, maybe there is someone else that knows how to stop windows from loading its driver instead.

Why did you post in a new thread that you made and here?

Go to config/input #1. Click on the keyb/gamepad and then the set keys.

How hard is that to setup your controller?

I just went to radio shack and picked one up. I noticed in their online store though, that they are no longer available?
