Post by Master O »

Just out of curiousity, what games de-sync during Netplay in Zsnes 1.42?

It's not a matter of what games, every game de-syncs when use in an unstable version or internet connection.

It IS a matter of games too, although the only game that comes to mind is tetris attack (and bomber man series?). EVERY game I've played on 1.42 with it has desynced within seconds of starting and everyone I meet to play the game refuses to use 1.42 for this. 1.36 happens to work fine for it. Pretty much all the other games I play work perfectly fine the whole way through.

I never play on LAN (never had either) but I guess the desyncs are much less likely there. My experience is from zbattle netplay and I'm sure that Tetris Attack has serious issues with 1.42 that aren't evident is 1.36. If you were to request a game of tetris attack on zbattle, they WILL insist on using 1.36 and if they do allow 1.42 for some bizarre reason, chances are you'll get desyncs not too far into the game.

Well, I asked this question because on Zsnes 1.42, NBA Jam T.E. (US version) keeps desyncing, according to my opponents. While I was playing a couple of people in this game on 1.42, they weren't moving around at all and kept shooting the ball from further away than half court, while I was easily blowing by them and scoring uncontested shots.

I'm just curious if anyone has had any de-syncing problems with this particular game on Zsnes 1.42.

I run:

Windows XP Pro SP2
Cable modem
Linksys Router (forget the model number, am not at home)

No I haven't netplayed with that game. Anyway, dude, Zsnes 1.42 isn't good for netplaying some games de-sync. Just use 1.36 it would be better.

Never played that game on netplay but when I'm on zbattle I usually see it hosted with '1.36' in the room name. So I guess its one of those games best played with 1.36.

It's too bad too, since that's the only game I've had trouble with while using Zsnes 1.42.

Geez, I don't know what it is; but now I get the feeling that games are begging to desync on my in 1.42 when I play with others. I don't know why that is, but it's really starting to bug me.
