Gamepad acting up? Keyboard not responding properly? Can't get that other user to work? Read and post about it here.

Regular Xbox controller

Post by linedriveking22 »

If you take a xbox controller and cut the cord and then cut a USB cord and reconnect them by color will that work the same as a 360 controller on a computer?

Do you need a different program?

yer gonna need drivers, kid.

http://minishcap.chatcityonline.com/pro ... cdv106.exe

However, if you're using Linux, you should be able to integrate Joystick, USB, /dev/rawhid (I forgot what that's called), and X-Box pad support into the kernel, and all is well ;)
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

ok...i went to your site and looked at the instructions for this project and i have some questions. An xbox controller has a breakaway cord so would it work if i took the smaller cord (the one that goes into the xbox) and cut that up so the controller could work with both xbox and PC? just by switching the smaller breakaway cord back and forth.

thanks

however you split it, the xbox controller is usb (unlike every other console controller) so if you want to cut off the end and solder it to your motherboard it will show up as a usb controller. I was under the impression that windows xp recognizes it and has the drivers ready for it, but have never tried it.

I used an extension cable that had a socket instead of a breakaway connector. This allows the extension to work with wireless XBOX controllers. Recent drivers that I have seen also claim support for the Steel Battalion cockpit controller.
