start at lastest save
Is it possible to have ZSnes automatically start at the lastest save when you load a game? The visualboy emu already has this.

Did you bother reading any of the documentation that came with ZSNES?
Config -> Saves
Check "Auto State Save/Load" - this will ensure ZSNES does what you're asking for. However this loads the state at slot 0... so you should...
Check "Start at Latest Save" - whatever slot you last saved in, ZSNES will track the slot you've used.
In the future, please RTFM.

I did some testing of this feature...
What you probably need to do is delete the .dat+.cfg files if you updated ZSNES recently. Failing to do so will prevent features from working properly.
Checking "Auto State Save/Load" is a must.. once you save a state while this feature is checked, when the game is loaded the next time, it will load from a special savestate on game load.
To fully utilize said feature, you need to also check "Start at Latest Save".. so when you hit F3 once you have loaded the game, you are automatically pointing to the correct slot.

I don't think the configuration files are the problem, because I "installed" zsnes to it's own directory. Anyway I deleted the config files just in case, and what it does is when I load the game, it automatically copies the newest save slot to slot 0, overwriting whatever is there, and that's where it starts. I have auto-increment turned on and I also have specified a save directory.

Right now.. don't use auto-increment at the moment.. I've tested this.. and this is a bug. Please manually select the slot yourself. The other two options work fine w/o using auto-incrementing.
It would've been nice if this information was more brought to my attention earlier.

Huge edit: After understanding the situation better.. "Auto State Save/Load" seems to have greater influence than "Auto Increment Save Slot".. which is causing this. Appearently, this is by design. All I got out of this is that you shouldn't combine "Auto Increment Save Slot" with "Auto State Save/Load".
As said originally.. don't check both options. Select the slot manually.. it's not that hard.
Also... there will be a simple bug fix for it regarding the "S" slot being incremented when it shouldn't be.
