How about this one

Well I am a huge fan of ZSNES and I love all of it's features. I also enjoy NES and I play both over the internet.

I am on a college campus, I have tried my best to get ZSNES netplay to work, I can't host at all. I can't even connect with UDP, but I can connect in TCP which means that I am at least half there.

I just assumed this whole time that I was being blocked by the campus firewall. I then tested an NES emulator (in TCP) I used port 6996 for that and I was able to host and connect!?

I have heard of people being able to use different ports with some of the NES emulators. So my question is... could I be able to switch the ZSNES port to something like AIM messengers port 5190? Would that work out for me, and if so what features would work? Or is that something I could get into trouble for?

I use Windows XP and I have my software firewall all disabled and what not.

Yes, that would most certainly work, as long as your school doesn't block 5190.

Of course, your friend would need to forward port 5190 if needed.

All features should work without a problem.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
