Saving and loading of states...

Post by eNc »

Hi there...

I'm using Nestopia for my NES/Famicom games and I think the way you can load/save your states is much more comfortable than it is realised in ZSNES...
for saving... you are just using 1 to 0 (ok, 0 to 9)... for loading you just have to press SHIFT-0 to SHIFT-9...
By using F2 to F4 I have to change the state number by pressing F3... blablabla... u know what I mean... ;)
Ok... that's it...

Thanks for hearing me out... :)

You know if you look in the options, we have at least 5 different ways to pick states.
May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

hehe... but picking is not loading nor saving... it's just... well... picking... ;)

ok... picking via f3 has the advantage that you have a preview of the game state... but I think a peaceful coexistence of f3 pinking and real quick loading/saving is what future is about... ;)

There's WAY too many ways of doing this same task in ZSNES. Why bother complaining? Just because other emus have a nice (but most likely unconfigurable) option to Save/Load states with a specified key configuration doesn't mean ZSNES needs to copy them.

Did you look at the options yet?

I honestly think that ZSNES' state saving/loading is implemented better than any other emulator (that I've tried). It's a very flexible emulator.

hum...? i found "State selects" in game keys menu... do I have to add some key kombinations in the key combination editor...? or is there an option "direct loading/saving" or smth. like that...?
I'm using 1.42 stable... maybe you're talking about nightly builds...?
In config/options menu I cannot find anything... just give me a hint... :)

Dude, just remove the default bindings to 0-9 (layers, panic key, device, windowing, offset) and put them in for states 0-9.
Then just hit 0-9 to choose your state, F2 to save and F4 to load. It's FASTER than 'Key/shift-key'.

Code: Select all

<jmr> bsnes has the most accurate wiki page but it takes forever to load (or something)

maybe we have to start the wonderful who-is-the-fastest-state-saver/loader competition to see what is the next generation state loading/saving concept...! ;)

Ok, ok... i will load/save via F5, F6 and numbers... that is what my config is acutally about...
