Netplay Help :( PLEASE! :((

Ok...so I've been trying to play zsnes with my girlfriend, who is living in New Mexico at the moment. I used to be able to link up with my friend who lives in Nebraska with no problem. However, myself and my girlfriend have been trying to netplay and it won't work whatsoever. We even downloaded 1.36 and we still can't get it to work. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Please help. Thanks for reading!

That didn't help me. I've looked at that before. I get lost on the router part, however, I didn't have to fool with my router for it to work the last time it worked.
