sidewinder freestyle pro screws up mouse

Post by invictius »

Microsoft optical cordless desktop, and ms sidewinder freestyle pro (the one where you can choose directions by actually moving the pad):

Whenever it's added under game controllers, my mouse goes wild. You'll have it leap into a corner all of a sudden. There aren't any conflicts between the gameport/sound card and any usb devices, and I've tried to change the frequency of the cordless mouse, but no luck. ATM, I'm just removing it from game controllers when I'm done with zsnes. Funny thing is, if it isn't installed, but still plugged into the gameport, everything's fine! This is a shame, as it's a really comfortable control... any ideas what's causing this?

My guess is that it (the controller) changes the frequency of updates to DirectInput.. which happens to affect your mouse. There is mouse sensitivity code available in SVN to possibly fix your problem. It should be available in the next WIP though.
