NETPLAY Issue; Please Help. No, not a noob question.

Post by fufuless »

Hi, my partner and I have both forwarded 7845 TCP/UDP, 4000 TCP/UDP on our routers to the correct addresses, yet she can only connect to me on 4000 TCP/IP, I cannot connect to her on ANY of them, and she cannot connect to me on UDP. When she tries to connect to me on 7845 UDP it says "Found Client" and then nothing ever happens. Does anyone know a solution for this UDP issue? Or know what's up? Anything at all, thank you very much. <3

It is suggested to use TCP over UDP (unless you both are on the same LAN). You should read the stickies to see if any of them can help you.

I would have no trouble with that, but TCP connection generally desyncs every once in a while, which is very unnerving. I've heard UDP does wonders for that, so really... Just trying to find a way to make it happen. I've read 'em up, firewalls have been disabled, tried 1.36, etc. I don't quite understand how she can only connect to me on TCP 4000, yet I cannot connect to her on TCP 4000. Think that has anything to do with it? Hm hm.

As I said, UDP works ideally if you're on the same LAN. UDP in general has an even greater chance of desyncing on the nature of UDP.

The only possible thing I can think of is that one router is preventing the use of TCP on that port (a reserved port possibly). If you consider using an even higher than than 4000, you would probably have a better chance at connecting.

I wasn't aware of that, the UDP being slower if not in the same LAN, thank you. I'll attempt with some higher ports, see how that goes. Regardless, thanks for the input. <3
