my games run way too fast

Post by Colombo »

I'm sure this isn't actually a bug, but I can't figure out why it's doing it. Every game I load runs at like 10x the normal speed. I don't remember changing any settings once I had it how I liked it, and I have played normally for a long time now, it just started doing it when I ran it today. I didn't see anything relevant on google or the forum search about it, but maybe I missed something. Thanks in advance for any help.

You need to specify ZSNES version, OS (and service packs if applied), and processor.

Is "auto framerate" enabled?

clarification

Post by Colombo »

It is version 1.42 on Windows XP with SP2, on a pentium 4 prescott 2.8 GHZ processor with HT enabled. None of that changed before and after it started acting like this. Yes, I do have auto framerate enabled. It's not just the video though, the sound is sped up as well. The whole thing runs way too fast. Thanks for your replies and please let me know if you need any further clarification.

I figured it out

Post by Colombo »

I usually don't reboot my computer, and hadn't for about 2 weeks. A reboot, for whatever reason, made it behave normally again. Thanks for your help anyway, maybe this will help someone in the future.

windows xp can go for quite awhile without needing a reboot. it's almost as good as unix in that regard.

Too bad not rebooting for long periods is causing ZSNES to have issues.

emulator in turbo mode somehow

Post by cyberpsygen7 »

i have used zsnes for years and have never had a problem until today.
my operating system is windows xp.

i was running version 1.42 but had to go back to version 1.36 to run a hacked redesign of super metroid that was for some reason incompatible with the newer zsnes.

i put the 1.42 back in its own folder and dragged the older 1.36 version into the folder with all my smc files and ran super metroid redesign. now any thing i load into 1.36 is ultra speeded but 1.42 is still functioning perfectly.

i wasnt holding down the fast forward button on accident and i toggled my frame skip and auto framerate options around. i also tried enabling and disabling the 30hz turbo too because i dont know what that option is or how it works.

i had an existing save file for the umodified super metroid (JU) i was replaying before i heard about the redesign. i dont know if that matters or not...

im going to try powering off my computer like that other guy said he did, whether that works or not i hope i gave enough situational data for you guys to look into this bug.

Mixing configuration files = Bad. Delete them and let it create new ones.

Sharing config files between v1.36 and v1.42 is not such a good idea.
