Possible Counterfeit SNES Controllers?
I recently came across a website selling Brand New never used Official Nintendo Controllers. I thought about how rare it is to see something like this new and still in the box only for $10.00 a piece.
www.nintendorepairshop.com
Upon recieving them, I noticed that the box looks like a reprint and one of the controllers L triggers came damaged. The controllers also have excessive plastic at certain parts of the controllers which the official ones didnt have.
I'm going to be taking some pictures of the box and controllers tomorrow so you can all see them and be the final judge of it. Anyone ever purchase from this site?
Edit- and just so you all know, im not talking about 3rd party controllers. These actually say Nintendo on them. Also, i know none of you could probably careless about my situation but, im just letting you all know about it so you can avoid the cheap knock offs.

apparently if you take it apart, the circuit board should say nintendo on it if it's legit. however I don't see why pirates couldn't copy that as well.

jUST BY LOOKING AT THAT PICTURE, i CAN SEE THAT IT'S NOT OFFICIAL. bUT THAT ONLY HELPS IF YOU HAVE THE REAL ONES. pERSONALLY, i PREFER THE 2ND-PARTY ascii-pADS, THE ONES WITH THE THREE-STATE SWITCHES FOR EVERY BUTTON FOR "tURBO". iT JUST FEELS EVEN BETTER THAN THE OFFICIAL ONE FOR ME ANYWAYS.Ichinisan wrote:i'VE BEEN SEEING CONTROLLERS LIKE THIS ONE ON EBAY FOR A LONG TIME NOW, SOLD AS "nINTEDO oFFICIAL (BLAH BLAH)"
i LOVED MY asciipad, BUT i LET SOME NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS BORROW IT AND SOMEONE BROKE INTO THEIR HOUSE AND VANDALIZED EVERYTHING. tHE CONTROLLER CORD WAS CUT INTO SEVERAL PIECESwhicker wrote:jUST BY LOOKING AT THAT PICTURE, i CAN SEE THAT IT'S NOT OFFICIAL. bUT THAT ONLY HELPS IF YOU HAVE THE REAL ONES. pERSONALLY, i PREFER THE 2ND-PARTY ascii-pADS, THE ONES WITH THE THREE-STATE SWITCHES FOR EVERY BUTTON FOR "tURBO". iT JUST FEELS EVEN BETTER THAN THE OFFICIAL ONE FOR ME ANYWAYS.Ichinisan wrote:i'VE BEEN SEEING CONTROLLERS LIKE THIS ONE ON EBAY FOR A LONG TIME NOW, SOLD AS "nINTEDO oFFICIAL (BLAH BLAH)"

oNE DIFFERENCE THAT i DID NOTICE WITH THE asciipad WAS THAT MY ACCURACY IN tETRIS aTTACK WAS NOTICABLY WORSE, EVEN THOUGH THE d-pAD APPEARED TO BE IDENTICAL.
Need a new sig...

The same happened to me with that controller exept in my case the control was filled with ants...But I used it a lot in my teen SNES days. The thing that I liked the most is that it buttons where in different colors just like the Super Famicom. Too bad that good controllers for PC or videogames are no longer made.Ichinisan wrote:i LOVED MY asciipad, BUT i LET SOME NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS BORROW IT AND SOMEONE BROKE INTO THEIR HOUSE AND VANDALIZED EVERYTHING. tHE CONTROLLER CORD WAS CUT INTO SEVERAL PIECESwhicker wrote:jUST BY LOOKING AT THAT PICTURE, i CAN SEE THAT IT'S NOT OFFICIAL. bUT THAT ONLY HELPS IF YOU HAVE THE REAL ONES. pERSONALLY, i PREFER THE 2ND-PARTY ascii-pADS, THE ONES WITH THE THREE-STATE SWITCHES FOR EVERY BUTTON FOR "tURBO". iT JUST FEELS EVEN BETTER THAN THE OFFICIAL ONE FOR ME ANYWAYS.Ichinisan wrote:i'VE BEEN SEEING CONTROLLERS LIKE THIS ONE ON EBAY FOR A LONG TIME NOW, SOLD AS "nINTEDO oFFICIAL (BLAH BLAH)"

speaking of tribal tap, if someone wants one I'll sell it for $25 shipped. all I gotta do is chop off the end and replace with 25pin thanks to psxpad's multitap support

SNES ascii pads rock!
I bought 5 ascii pads for Bombermans years ago. Their tough too. Little kids managed to break all my official SNES pads over the years. My ascii pads, chewed by dogs and kids, stepped on, drug behind a bike, thrown, used to level tables, yanked on to unplug, still work great. Well, I did have to reassemble them a few times.
I find that that 4 N64 controllers, 4 Adaptoids, 8 wireless PSX2 pads, and 2 Super Multi-Joy 16s (4 PSX/Dual/Analog/NeGcon/2/DanceMats/Guns compatible) are antiquate for _all_ my current PC emulation needs. NeGcons are great for Atari/Apple paddle/steering wheel games. N64 controllers make more sense for N64 and Genesis 6 button games. PSX2 controllers make more sense for NES, SNES and everything else.
However, I'm looking to buy an unneeded 5 controller SNES adapter just to use my ascii pads. I'd preffer them for all non-analog systems. In fact, I had 2 SNES-Genesis adapters and used them so I could play games on my Genesis console using my SNES ascii pads.
How difficult is that Tribal Tap mod? Lots of parts/soldering. Do all the ports work?
Speaking of Tribal Tap. Was the 5th port (6th Player) just for looks?
I've never found a use for it.
BTW, Genesis ascii pads SUCK! I bought 1. I only found it useful for the auto fire, I never actually used it to play. A runner band wrapped around a die and any controller with turbo was a preferred alternitive.

damn dude!Zerothis wrote:I like having sex with the dead
what's up with all those controllers? do you shove them up your ass and have the rumble set to max when you're playing with yourself? j/k. the tribal tap mod is easy as having sex with a dead person. you get yourself a 25 pin parallel port plug (male of course teeheehee,) chop off the snes plug, and solder it on instead. using psxpad drivers, it works awesomely. otherwise you gotta wire up each snes plug separately which takes more wires and time and sucks.
p.s. try not to burn yourself with the soldering iron. at least not to much <3 <3 <3

A local independant game retailer had these in full counterfeit boxes apeing the boxes with SMRPG art. I opened one and the sticker around the buttons was beige and skewed so it didn't line up with the depression it fits in... instead it was slapped right over the buttons!
