The emulated games run slower than on my PAL snes???

Post by Jazm1 »

I have been cross testing zsnes against my Norwegian PAL snes on my widescreeen tv, and found that zsnes does most everything better than the original console when it comes to picture clarity, colors and sound clarity.

But what it cant seem to get right is the speed of the games, they seem to run about 20% slower than on my PAL snes.
I tried every posible combination i could find to get this right, i have tried every option in the configuration in various combinations, i have tried the european roms of my games, i have tried the emulator on diffrent pc's (all of them high end) and i still get the same results.

I thought the PAL were suposed to be slower running?

So i'm wondering if a manual speed calibrator could be implemented in the emulator or something, so people that have the originale console can calibrate the speed accrodingly.

I think zsnes is the greatest of all the emulators out there for any system, but knowing that the games are running 20% slower has almost made it unusable for me.

Please make a fix or something so that i can enjoy the snes glory in the vibrant clarity, detail and color the zsnes offers.

Well, you could try one of the WIPs @ http://zsnes.ipherswipsite.com

Alternatively, you could just use the NTSC versions of the same game (most of the time, there aren't issues with them).

You might want to try forcing NTSC or PAL timing on the ROMs when you load them.

It's not entirely safe on games that rely on it (you may trigger region/copy protection).
