Question about Media Player Classic

i decided to give this a try, since my intervideo will close itself down halfway through a movie these days.

anyway, does mpc do the whole 5.1 decoding thing? my center channel isn't really seeing any action, and the voices are coming out of the front left and right, but not the center.

i would like to keep using this program, but i can't find any documentation, and custom channels do nothing, since they seem to reset themselves as soon the options page is closed, and this is with the save to *.ini option enabled. not that i was noticing a difference anyway.

options -> audio switcher -> check enable custom mapping.

i tried mapping, but it did a whole lot of nothing for me. and after it's configured, if i "ok" out and go right back in, nothing i did stuck.

i'll probably just try and find powerdvd and see if that's any better.

no its not.

and make sure the AC3 decoder(Play -> Filters) is set to decode to correct number of channels(3 front + 2 rear(or SPDIF if your sound hardware can decode AC3) and LFE is checked)

then you'll get your 5.1 sound.

hmmm....

i did the 3 front 2 rear thing, but i left the others unchecked.

i'll try messing around with the other options in there.

mpc just replaced vlc for all other video media, but i'll need to mess around to see if i can make this work for dvd's.

docs would have been nice.

also double check that windows know its hooked up to a 5.1 system.

some games change it back to 2 for some stupid reason.
