Games are Unbeatable
Ok, I just beat Contra III and Super Castlevania IV using ZSNES. How in the F*** were you supposed to beat those games on the original console without save states?! Holy SH**! Anyone out there ever beat those games on the original console?......Liars!

No, it's just that you suck, and most games these days are piss easy.mytmyke wrote:Ok, I just beat Contra III and Super Castlevania IV using ZSNES. Yep, although there are games that are unnecessarily hard that even I need savestates to beat. Super Ghouls n Ghosts and Axelay are two.
Remember, when you bought a game back then and it was a platformer, you'd probably want it pretty hard. Otherwise, you wouldn't be getting your money's worth if it only took you a few tries to beat it.

Like Battle Toads... now THAT'S a hard game.
Or Megaman I... wait, that's not a game... games are fun... games don't make you want to kill people...

The Original Generation Series is good, but HARD. At least until you get the hang of it, I recommend you to play OG1 first, for the story and so you don't get spoiled from OG2's better battle animation.powerspike wrote:Sayy since you're here Gideon is SRW worth playing? I'm not too big on strategy stuff but the whole mecha dealy looks kind of interesting. Plus I've watched a couple of series that I noticed in your neat preview video.
If you are going to play OG1, play through Ryusei's route, it's easier.

Let's exclude F-ZERO GX (Very hard, Master modes) here, shall we?blackmyst wrote:No, it's just that you suck, and most games these days are piss easy.

No, more like it forces you through tight spaces full of weird enemies, and has no powerups to speak of. It's nothing like a typical SHMUP that just throws craploads of the same, easy to see shit right in front of you. Those are easy. Levels 4 and 5 in Axelay just tear me up. It's not the hardest shooter, but it's not easy.Louis Cypher wrote:Axelay was easy :/ I bet you were just too reliant on one particular weapon.

Never beat Contra III on hard mode, but I came darn close. (Lost my last life just after setting off a bomb that killed the final boss...)
As far as hard games go, I'd put Gradius III on master (or was it impossible?) mode near the top. THAT game was unforgiving.
And the final (hidden) boss of Demon's Crest is crazy hard too. You had to have the semi-secret "Ultimate" form to even get to fight him...and good luck beating him.

Eh, beating the Dark Demon isn't too hard.. it's just a matter of having four full health potions. After that it jut becomes a battle of attritrion.jtrevor99 wrote: And the final (hidden) boss of Demon's Crest is crazy hard too.
