I can't connect to AIM or any AOL related websites

Post by snkcube »

Recently, I've been having troubles trying to connect to AIM or any of AOL's websites, such as Winamp. When I attempt logging into AIM, it shows the groups of my buddy list, but it doesn't show any users being online. The weird thing is that it only occurs with my screen name, not my brother's. I asked my friend to log on to AIM for me at his house and he said my screen name still works. When I go to AOL or AIM.com for example, it sometimes loads, but mostly on Internet Explorer 7. On Firefox, it usually stalls. Clicking on any of the links on those pages just times out on me, which is very strange. I tried turning off my router several times. I also did the same with my DSL modem, but it still persists. I also cleared my cache and cookies, but that doesn't even work. I even called my ISP, but even they couldn't solve the problem. Oh yeah, all the websites I go to still work except for the AOL related websites. Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Even though AOL does suck, I still need to use AIM to contact friends.

Check if you blocked AOL's entire IP range in your router or firewall.

I just checked both my router and firewall and none seems to indicate that I blocked AOL's entire IP range. Could it be that AOL accidentally blocked my IP?

That's not very likely.

Do any of your neighbors/friends that have the same service than you suffer of the same problem? Maybe it's ISP related.

My friends also have the same service as me: AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet and all of them doesn't have the same problems as me.

Edit - Seems like the problem just fixed itself. Thanks for all your suggestions.
