Old. Also these people are not as stupid as many of the people on the bus I was on this morning, such as the high school kids near to me who could not avoid saying 'like' every other word ("I was like, 'Yeah', and he was like..." etc.), and the kid who was playing rap music toward the back.

This person where I work sometimes was talking to another employee once about going to pay a visit to a client (for a stupid reason.) The second person said to the first "He's in New York. I'm not driving all the way up there."

The first person then replied, rather indignently, "Well, can't you get a Passport?"

Yeah, people are stupid. But generalizing that over all Americans (or our education system) is just as stupid.

There are stupid people everywhere though... at least I hope so. I mean, there are a looooot of stupid people in Amerca, and I hope that it's the case elsewhere too (though I wouldn't wish this on anyone).

I'm just glad that I'm now in college where, for once in my life, I'm not completely surrounded by stupid people whose only concerns are things that are entirely inconsequential.

Now the only problem is that I'm still surrounded by a good deal of people who are assholes. But it's a lot less than before, just that I currently have to deal personally with some of the bigger assholes almost constantly.

That doesn't make on less or more stupid than the other.

Now, when you find a Doctor that can't tell the diferences between a cold and the flu and an Engineer that can't tell the difference between Linux and Windows, well... I hope he isn't your doctor or the guy that repairs your computers.

trivia is a pretty stupid way to gauge intelligence, it's merely a way to gauge robustness in a particular topic

unfortunately we are hastening the gradual extinction of the human race when the basic education received isn't sufficient to know things like "DON'T STICK A KNIFE IN THE TOASTER" and even forks require warning labels on the outside of the box

I see it more like there are different types stupidity just like there are different types of intelligence.
But a person who can't tell Korea from Australia is a geography moron, and most likely didn't pay attention at all in school or watch the news ever. But there can be other causes too, like brain disorders and shit that makes it impossible for you to learn such a thing but doesn't stop you from being good at other things.

i remember some guy sued the maker of a trailer car for not putting a warning sign on the steering wheel saying "always keep your hands on the steering wheel when driving." seems like that guy was driving and suddenly he decided to get up and take a whiz in his port-o-potty and 1 min later his trailer crashed into a tree.

Either way, someone who doesn't know shit about geography shouldn't be giving or attempting to form an opinion on foreign politics.

That's why I've decided to stay away from discussions on foreign policy, and why I've decided to deal as little as I can with economics until I actually take some economics classes.

Re-read your posts. There's a reason you're singled out... You say some pretty ignorant un-thought out things often times. My money is on that being a primary reason you get heat. You also present unpopular opinion without any supporting evidence whatsoever. An opinion without supporting evidence is worthless.
