NSRTj released

Post by sbastos »

I've finally have had some free time and am distributing this frontend to the general public. It's a java frontend for NSRT 3.2. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun doing it.
You can get it here.
Screenshots are included for the curious at heart....

Looks nice! NSRT probably should have had something like that a long time ago.

Although, the command line is still easier for me to use than mentally trying to translate the menus to English even though alot of the options are pretty obvious as to what they are in English.

thanks for the support.....
If I get a lot of feedback, I'll try to support the new NSRT version coming out.... :)

PS> Oh, the frontend supports various languages. You don't need to translate it as English is one of the supported languages.

Is Spanish supported? And let me get this right. The front end is a program to help you to easily handle command-line programs, right?

No, spanish is not supported yet. But it could be. *hint**hint* :D
The way I have the program set up, someone with a good knowledge of another language could translate it and have his own personalized program running in less than 30 minutes.
Yeah, frontend's are usually done to make it easier for users to handle command line programs. Actually there is more to that.... They could also be implementing more features.

I could translate it for you if it doesn't need any programming

There's not much to it.....
All you do is open the jar file as if it was a zip file(i.e. extract it's contents) A jar file is a zip file by the way.
After that you will find a directory named Locale. Inside that directory you'll find a few files with a .properties extension . You need to edit the files that do not have pt_PT in it's name. After that you either rezip the application, or better yet, send the files to me and I'll make sure you get the credit for it

So you mean, I can open this *.jar file, extract it to somewhere, and edit all files that do not have pt_PT in the name. Got it, you have got a spanish translation ready in 1 week or less. Just a question. Do I need a special program to open this *.jar file?

No. Just rename it to .zip, then rename it back when you are done.

Ok thanks. Expect this translation soon ^_^

Just another little question: Do I need to know Java? If yes, I'm screwed.
If no, the translation proyect is still up.

there's absolutely no java involved.
The .properties files consist of key=value pairs. They key you leave alone, so that the java program can load the value. The value you substitute that into another language.
