Earth Defense Force. It's all you need.

My point is that the game won't be helping MS that much, thus, is a lame attempt. For example, Nintendo tried the same thing at a past E3 with Pac-Man VS. The game was their "surprise" announcement, but was such a huge let-down. It was an attempt to sell more GameCubes and GBAs for their connectivity stuff. Of course, the game didn't help Nintendo sell more GameCubes. This is similar to what MS is trying to do in Japan.sweener2001 wrote:that's not the point. the point is calling the attempt lame. debate the point.
PacMan VS wasn't even sold as a standalone. It was only available bundled in with a few Namco games.snkcube wrote:My point is that the game won't be helping MS that much, thus, is a lame attempt. If you don't agree with my point, then that's fine. You're not forced to anyhow.
I guess MS were smart on securing the game. But MS should know that the Japanese are loving all of these casual games that are being pushed out by the Wii. That is something MS should be aiming for.sweener2001 wrote:the simple fact that it probably won't have a large impact hardly makes the attempt lame. MS knows that the japanese like bullet-hell games. so they find a good one that people are looking forward to, and secure exclusive rights. what part of that is lame?
You got me there.sweener2001 wrote:just because it probably won't change many japanese gamers' minds doesn't make it lame. futile, perhaps, but not lame.
There's simply no way the 360 is going to gain any mainstream acceptance in Japan. That ship has sailed., and they've got an image cemented as a nerdy platform that's only for the hardcore.snkcube wrote:I guess MS were smart on securing the game. So I guess MS won't ever have a chance at being accepted in Japan as a mainstream system?Gil_Hamilton wrote:There's simply no way the 360 is going to gain any mainstream acceptance in Japan. So lock in hardcore games like shooters. Don't even pretend you can take on the Wii.
This is not true from what I understand.snkcube wrote:I guess MS were smart on securing the game. Maybe for the 720, if they hire a competent japanese marketing team.snkcube wrote:So I guess MS won't ever have a chance at being accepted in Japan as a mainstream system?Gil_Hamilton wrote:There's simply no way the 360 is going to gain any mainstream acceptance in Japan. <jmr> bsnes has the most accurate wiki page but it takes forever to load (or something)
Can you provide a link to something confirming that? That sounds off, but I can't find any info confirming or denying it is called HiVision over there.Gil_Hamilton wrote:And on that vein, they've also hypef that it supports "HDTV."sweener2001 wrote:i only heard about the fact they were literally translating their "jump in" ads, which make no sense to them.
The problem is... the japanese don't call it HDTV. They call it HiVision.
