Almost certain that first point is completely wrong, and the second is pure opinion.
I'm sure the Woosley haters will rise up and start flaming for the atrocity of a translation that was produced for FF2 (SNES).
On the flip side, I don't believe Woosley had any major impact to that translation (which is my primary contention with people who hate him).
It can't be that to emulate those games.
... Can't be that? Companies don't generally choose to do things because they're easy (well, perhaps I should bite my tongue on that one)...
He meant "can't be that hard", but the dynamics of emulating it is cheaper to do.. but not as profitable. Since the port remakes increase the existing content by say 20% (at most), why would the companies wantyou to save money on a cheaper earlier version?
They already made bloody remakes for the GBA a year and half ago.
So once again, why would they release essentially the EXACT SAME VERSION of a game on a home console after already making said port less than two years ago? And no, hardware limitations on said initial port is not a reason to port it immediately to something else.
Some of the issues are simply not hardware limitations, just simply poor coding.

Agreed. The sentence after that one is based on the assumption that he meant to say "hard". It stands to reason that the remakes would be more profitable than a port, for sure.

Yeah, that's true... but still doesn't seem like a reason to re-port (not that I think you're arguing for it, that's just my argument/reasoning).

Sure, Woosley may not have done the best job in the world, but considering the limitations of the SNES and the time he was alotted, he did a pretty dang good job, A lot of games have far worse translations (like Breath of Fire 2), many which were still good games. So, I mean if it makes more sense to make re-releases, they can go ahead. My argument was mainly complaining about the lack of SNES RPGs on the Virtual Console.
Let me put it this way.. a lot of those RPGs could just easily just get a straight port. If any game was not deserving of a port, it would be a VC game.
That eliminates a lot of options, and that's how you should be looking at it.

No he didn't do a dang good job.
He didn't do ANY job.

Yes, I know. However, it is hilarious that he gets referenced, just because his name is in the credits.

Well, I know YOU know. But neo_bahumat was pointing the finger over there again.

sorry, but you obviously underestimate the only country successfully preventing daily-life adoption of the metric system.
FF3 SNES or FF3 U.S. is about as close as it's going to get.
Just like the Power Rangers will always be known by that title, Sailor Moon's first name will always be Serena, and Vega is the name of the dude with the claws.

The metric system already started the invasion though, last time I went to the US, the highway from Nogales Az to Tucson Az was measured in Kilometers.
*Sometimes I edit my posts just to correct mistakes.
I whish the US used both systems more; I lived in Japan for a couple of years and got used to the Metric System; personally, I think it's more accurate/easier to use.
Metric makes more sense to me, but, since I've been back for over eight months, I'm getting used to Standard again. Metre (meter)/gram/kg
km/h; makes more sense to me.
anything special for them? i realize astronomy numbers are much larger, but still, it must get annoying to constantly be talking about some millions of years.

They also make visualizing larger distances easier. Well, at least until you get into the 100+ LY range.
Maybe we could use something larger, such as "Galactical Unit = distance between the Sun and the center of the galaxy".
