Seeing as you have an nVidia card and probably the latest drivers.. Why don't you try the Refresh Rate Overrides? I used to have a GeForce2 MX400 and the only way i could get Zsnes smooth was to force 60Hz at 640x480. I used 640x480DR in Zsnes by the way. This way I was able to play Zsnes fullscreen at 640x480, 60Hz without changing my desktop to match every time.

Nowadays I just use the TV out and play Zsnes on my TV. :P Don't have to worry about refresh rates anymore. Cause it runs smooth as butter, like on the real SNES. :D

Tip: ZSNESW.exe -6 does the same thing.

That's what few people have already tried to explain. :)
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

Sure, running a PAL game at 60 Hz isn't good.

seam wrote:I personally hate flatscreen screens. The framerate issue is a downer, plus I hate that "interpolated" look to the picture. I just don't see any real advantages, besides saving space. And you're certainly not saving money. Anyway, the ONLY other app/game I really have this problem in seems to be genecyst. It's a great emulator, but it also seems to have the tearing/slowdown problem. Nebula, and gba, etc. are fine though.. I'm surprised no one else has had this problem. Like I said before, even at 640x480 with NO special effects, it still does this... and I have a 1.2ghz with a fx 5600... it just doesn't make sense. I'll keep checking up on this topic until I figure something out, or just give up. Any help is appreciated, as always.
Dude, have you seen the latest generation of Flat Screens, within like the last 6 Months ?
I don't see how anyone can say that they don't look and work just as good as a CRT.
Actually, LCDs are better for your eyes then CRTs.
The quality on my Dell XPS Gaming Laptop is top notch.
Heck, I just recently played Doom3 all the way through... didn't even notice I was playing on an LCD.

Any LCD with a High Contrast Ratio, 16ms Response Time, a Native Resolution over 1280x1024,
and connected with a DVI Cable will blow any CRT away.
The only downside is that you're gunna be spending over $1,000.

I also use a Logitech Mx900 Bluetooth Wireless Mouse.
This thing is WAY accurate and FAST! Best Wireless Mouse in existence.
Bluetooth is 1,000 times better then regular RF.
Most people say "Wireless Mice suck for FPS"
It's time those people get with the times...

Wireless and LCDs are finally "good"
Go check them out people.

Built-in Bluetooth (no need for hubs... it's cool just pulling out a Mouse and it works)

now that i got yoshis island working properly, i was messing with the higher resolutions, and I really dont see any difference between 800x600, and any resolution higher than that. it doesnt look any finer, or less edgy. im using super 2xsai. does the super 2xsai work so well that higher resolutions are pointless in zsnes? or am i just not seeing the difference in higher res'.

If you're using fullscreen and DR modes, I have a sneaking suspicion that raising the resolution doesn't increase the size of the actual drawing area.

But in other situations...

The NTSC resolution of the SNES is only 256x224 in most cases, and a filter like 2xSai uses advanced blending and shaping on the normal output. Therefore it makes sense that you or I cannot tell the difference between expanding the small resolution onto a 800x600, 1024x768, or 1280x960 screen; it's more a matter of drawing scaled shapes than pixels. (Similar to the concept of vector graphics, which don't lose quality at larger resolutions because they are merely mathematical definitions of shapes, rather than pixel-by-pixel mappings.)

2xsai is a 2x filter, so the output of that filter is 512x448 image.
To scale that 512x448 image further, to fit on 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960 screens, video card's hardware (bilinear) stretching is used.
So obviously, the results you see are very similar.

Most of the filters, like 2xsai, are only-2x-filters.

HQ filters are different - HQ4x on 1280x960 is sharper then HQ2x on 640x480.

I like that taste in laptops. Hmm... oughta update my dream list to have dual-channel RAM. Notice the bolded word. I would definately recommend this for a laptop. Anyhow, only problem I see is the cpu. I'd go with the fastest AMD. It's an ass-kicker, plus it's cheaper.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

You can only use them in some of zsne's Resolutions, they are there, look for them.

Actually, zsnes was the first emulator ever to get HQ filters.

And zsnes is the only emulator with MMX-optimized, playable, HQ4X filter.

You are using the lastest WIP right? Just Right Now I can tell you that in 512x448 DR WIN, you are able to use HQ2X, it's right next to interpolation.
