Is this normal? I didn't think a filter could hit my performance that badly... =\
Yes. HQ?x caches the resulting data, so in the best case it has to be processed only once. Scrolling on the CT map loads new tiles, so I'd guess the cache gets cleared.

IMO all the smart filters "improve" things that should be kept unchanged; that's why I'm only using Interpolation. :)

I've got an 1996 HP Pavilion M90 19" moniter which I can max out to only 1600 X 1200 but I'm not trading it in until it burns it's last. Then I'm going to burry it in the back yard and errect a headstone over it right next to my good ol' doggy,Oddin. Is a space hogger and weighs a ton & It once got "accidentally" knocked off my desk onto the floor( 2 1/2 ft fall )while still on and survived with minor cuts & bruises.I've had to take it into the shop just once and that was prior to the fall.
I've tried an LCD and couldn't get used to it, the image isn't as sharp and I don't like the colour changes viewing it from different angles.

Akaroo wrote:oh and too bad you already got your LCD. The newer ones coming out, like mine, have double-scan which elimintates the blur with non-native resolutions.
What monitor do you have? Do you have a link to any information on this 'double scan' technology?

I've got a P4 3.2ghz and can run HQ4X at 1280x1024 at 60fps constantly, 0 frameskip even on fast moving picture, in fact Zsnes+HQ4X barely uses 40% of my processor.

Something must be wrong.

Just out of interest have you got vsync on and tripple buffering off? On similar hardware to yours, i get slow down with hq4x when I have tripple buffering off but vsync on. If I turn tripple buffering on the frame-rate stays at a consistant 60 fps.

I'm running with Tripple Buffering on and VSync off actually. I despise vsync.

*just tried turning Tripple buffering off and VSync on, still a constant 60fps.*

btw, I have a radeon x800pro too.
