Lufia 2 Ending Crashes ZSNES while HQ4x Full is selected
When you beat the game and all of the ending is done, ZSNES totally crashes (at least gracefully). The credits would normally roll at that point in time.
In Snes9x, this doesn't occur. What seems to be interesting is that the screen mode changes for some reason from the last story screen to the credits.
I have a savestate if you need one... let me know.

Watching the ending with my own state from a shitload of years ago (6)... will report when done.
(small mode7 bug...)
Hmm, all went fine till 'The End' and soft-resetting gave me the retry mode, so all fine.
And yes, the staff roll is in hires. Zsnes shakes a bit through it. But no crash.

I used my ~5 year old save state, no crash here either.

I've tested it further..
It crashed under HQ4X (using 1280x1024 res DS full here) it works fine with it disabled... I've changed res, used a DR mode.. and it still crashes
Update:
It seems specific to the HQ4X mode.. not HQ3X or HQ2X
It doesn't seem to crash if Windowed (Full Screen is only affected)
Update 2:
Triple Buffer and/or Vsync has no effect.
I understand that when Hires is going on, HQ#X filters are not applied..
It seems to me that there is an attempt to apply HQ4x to Hires (which should not happen).. thus making ZSNES crash.
At the moment, I don't know how/where to send it to show it to you.
Also.. a different bug to the same game that I just found..
The scrolling ending text when fast forwarded tends to not refresh properly.. there is some "text ghosting" (some of the text stays in the same place while you fast forward).. it's hard to take a screenshot of that...

That's what happens when you use fastforward in hires mode in zsnes, it only updates half of the pixel columns. You're fast-forwarding, it's not like you want to read it, heh.Deathlike2 wrote:The scrolling ending text when fast forwarded tends to not refresh properly.. there is some "text ghosting" (some of the text stays in the same place while you fast forward).. it's hard to take a screenshot of that...

No. It never was available under 1024x896.FireKnight wrote:Ah I see, thanks. I remember when one of the first WIPs was released the hq4x could be used in lower resultions.
You seem to remember a lot of stuff that never existed, mr. "i ran zsnes on a 12MHz laptop". Or should i call you mr. mythomaniac ?

For someone who watches Furby porn, you're not one to talk.grinvader wrote:No. It never was available under 1024x896.FireKnight wrote:Ah I see, thanks. I remember when one of the first WIPs was released the hq4x could be used in lower resultions.

I remember that one for sure. This monitor can't go past 1024x768 and I used hq4x before. Explain that.

I don't see what that has to do with it. At least I'm not hiding behind any kind of hypocritical bullshit. My favourite is guro, btw. Not furry. I rather dislike furry, actually. I'd take dickgirls over furries. But enough not PG-13 digression.FireKnight wrote:For someone who watches Furby porn, you're not one to talk.
You're a mythomaniac. Even if you're not conscious of it your brain generates memories out of thin air. It does it for everyone (as in, everyone has fake memories), just more in some people's case (maybe 10x more fake memories ? I dunno the exact comparison, it's an increase, basically).I remember that one for sure. This monitor can't go past 1024x768 and I used hq4x before. Explain that.
And you really believe these are your memories. It's not something you have to be scared of, just assume it and everyone around you will accept it.
It may even get you more understood sometimes.

I was just talking shit, don't take it seriously. BTW I don't even know what guro is, I probably don't want to know.grinvader wrote:I don't see what that has to do with it. I don't think so. I'm pretty sure this monitor is maxed out at 1024x768 considering my drivers limit at that to prevent me from being stupid. There is an option to disable that so I can select whatever resolution and it will just go blank. Anyways wouldn't Nacho know about this? Doesn't matter either way, my monitor can't handle it.grinvader wrote:You're a mythomaniac. Even if you're not conscious of it your brain generates memories out of thin air. Grin is not the type of a guy who'd take that seriously. He just gave a thorough answer. And yes, you probably don't want to know what guro is. I don't like that myself too much either.FireKnight wrote:I was just talking shit, don't take it seriously. Uh.. please get back on topic..
I forgot to mention that I'm only testing this on the Windows port (it should affect other ports, since it shouldn't be port specific).
Isn't anyone capable of replicating the bug that I have mentioned?.. You need to use a HQ4x fullscreen mode to replicate the bug (is anyone capable of testing it?)
This also occurs on the very recent 10/8 WIP build (I did not expect it to be fixed in that build).

Only Windows supports HQ4x so currently it is port specific.Deathlike2 wrote: I forgot to mention that I'm only testing this on the Windows port (it should affect other ports, since it shouldn't be port specific).
Not me for one, although I tested HQ3x and it seems fine.Deathlike2 wrote: Isn't anyone capable of replicating the bug that I have mentioned?.. You need to use a HQ4x fullscreen mode to replicate the bug (is anyone capable of testing it?)

Let me make it clear, I can't test HQ4x.Deathlike2 wrote:You need to use HQ4x specifically.. I said in subsequent posts+edits that it ONLY affects HQ4x.. HQ2x and HQ3x work just fine.

I have some ideas, if you can meet me online later today, we'll discuss it.Jonas Quinn wrote:Confirmed. It crashes somewhere in hq4x code.

Are you sure it wasn't hq3x or hq2x?FireKnight wrote:For someone who watches Furby porn, you're not one to talk.grinvader wrote:No. It never was available under 1024x896.FireKnight wrote:Ah I see, thanks. I remember when one of the first WIPs was released the hq4x could be used in lower resultions.
